If I try to upload an image in a comment reply, such as a screenshot from my phone, I get a Format Exception, complaining about unexpected HTML.

Yes, it seems you are correct. My instance won't accept a screenshot because it's over 100KB, so that in itself is not a Liftoff issue.

However, Liftoff should fail gracefully here and not give an unintelligible error message.

Yea I found that annoying too at first, hopefully they will make it where it eventually redirects you to a website or upload the picture itself then link the image directly to the picture
