I don't have a lot of knowledge in the subject to suppose, but I would think if this was a violation of the contract, the DoD contracts team would be litigating with Elon and slapping him with a fine. Considering we haven't heard anything (yet) it sounds like to me it wasn't a violation of the terms. I'm not an Elon fan the slightest, but I have worked with the US government in the past and the SoW or whatever is in the PO is what is the required deliverables. As much as I also want Ukrainian independence, I have not seen anywhere that defines Starlink for offensive purposes. The contracts team at DoD is probably equally to blame if they didn't outline the conditions that Starlink has to operate.

IMO there is no way the contract would be written in such a way to allow Musk to shut off the service when he decides that his side is going to take too many losses. Companies and people violate contracts all the time and the only thing you can do in response is take them to court. That can take years and cost millions.

"there is no way..." someone has been drinking the anti-musk kool-aid. The USG has done the exact same shit before with F16s and yet when Elon does it because of the USG, all we hear is Elon bad.

A small sampling of Musk's lies, most of which have been known for years...

He says he founded Tesla. Nope. Nor did he design the company’s first roadster. He lied and is still lying about Tesla’s “Autopilot.” Musk lied about the Hyperloop and getting approval for a multi-billion dollar government contract to build it. He lied about having “Funding secured” for taking Tesla private, was sued by the SEC, cost investors millions and was ultimately forced out of his position as Tesla chairman because of it.

Musk lied about buying Twitter and only followed through when he was facing discovery because he was being sued - a nightmare for any malignant narcissist. He lied about honoring the results of Twitter polls he posted. Musk even lies about meaningless things like showing up for a cage match with Zuckerberg.

The USG has allowed a single individual to disable F16's on a whim? Nope, never happened.

When's your "cage match" with Musk, or will you just beg him for an autograph?
