Ubisoft sees ‘major reduction’ in Rainbow Six Siege cheaters thanks to XIM detection (www.theverge.com)

For the uninitiated: XIM is a tool used to play console shooters with a mouse and keyboard and fake them as controllers, essentially giving them an unfair advantage in competitive shooters on console.

Ubisoft implemented a super effective way to counter XIM called "Mousetrap" a while ago. It slowly adds more and more input delay if you're playing with a XIM and tons of people have been sharing clips of players clearly trying to use it and having a 200ms+ delay in their actions and playing like they're drunk. It's quite funny.

As someone who used to play R6 on console, I salute the devs.

The worst part is Seige isn't the only game plagued with this issue. As an example, Destiny 2 has issues where PC players are doing something similar to this instance and getting controller aim assist on M&K. In shooters this kinda stuff really undermines the competitive integrity of said games and is yet another lame tactic for cheaters trying to get an advantage in FPS games.

Now that I think about it I'm pretty sure Call of Duty War zone has also gone on record stating that they created anti cheat for these devices as well.
