Have you ever missed or misread a rule and ended up playing several games the wrong way before you noticed?

In Rainbow Pirates it took us a while to notice you have to lay out cards if you can.

It plays quite differently that way. If you're allowed to keep them in your hand the strat is to lay out enough points so the opponent wouldn't win if they finished while assembling your rainbows in your hand. The special cards targeting the opponents hand and the Ship become much stronger while the ones targeting the island are less useful.
