Because hosting an invidious instance isn’t free, and I like to keep the strain off. I can only monetarily support so many tech habits!

I don't host anything myself, a local Piped instance on the Desktop and Newpipe on Android serve me splendidly

I’m a bit confused by newpipe. Is it essentially a download manager with a nice GUI?

It's pretty much a YouTube App. You can watch videos, have background play, download them, subscribe to channels and so on.

Imagine Revanced, except it's its own project and not based on modifying the official app.

What about FreeTube? Revanced? Grayjay? You don't need to host it yourself!
