Yeah. They are just making a newer game that they can then shutdown after a while. If they wanted to show goodwill, they would release the server software so people could set up their own servers and run them. Maybe it's time to fire up wireshark and record the network traffic on a few games.
I’d be willing to bet an open source solution pops up soon.
