I'm one of those weirdos that never thought the screen looked bad to begin with. I'm interested in the upgrade of course, but I can give it another year. The software upgrades alone make it feel like I'm running a new Steam Deck compared to when I got it 1.5 years ago.
I'm more interested in battery life and weight reduction. The better screen is secondary.
Is it weird that I want the nested carrying case as much as any of the other upgrades?
Yeah... That is nice... People downvoted me on reddit back in the beginning when the original released for wanting a more compact case for throwing in a Backpack..... "Why would you want a case, it has a case that is perfect already....", "Why would you want something that protects less..." ... Ugh...
I bought a MEPETEM-Steam Deck Protective Case and love it. My deck now takes up as little space in my backpack as possible.
Yeah I personally have the dbrand one bit yeah plenty of options nowadays. But it's nice valve offers something as well.
Those software updates are going to soon make the screen look a bit better too as SteamOS 3.5 adds saturation and colour temperature tuning settings.
I got it only a few months ago. I can wait a while for another. I'm still impressed what this little bugger can do. Also, then again I never bothered with the Switch OLED neither so I may not be the best.
The OLED seems to be more of a power consumption upgrade. The resolution is the same. Sure you will get more color depth with the OLED but it probably isn't worth the upgrade if you already have a deck. If they offer the new screen as an after market upgrade that may be worth it. But I'm the meantime the deck HD has a higher resolution.
