I watched the Linus Tech Tips review and if I remember correctly, Sony are claiming it's all to do with their proprietary streaming codec used to communicate with the PS5. It does have a 3.5mm audio jack.
Sooo... Sony doing the same Sony bullshit they've done for 30+ years now?
Nothing new under the sun there.
It sucks, but I'll take that over Microsoft's dumb decision to not only have a proprietary wireless protocol for Xbox like Sony, but also restrict audio streaming over USB to signed devices only for "security".
At least on PS5 I can plug in my wired headset using USB.
I did not know that about the restriction of signed usb devices. I guess the word "Security" can be used for all vendor lock-ins
Yeh it's all a bit iffy. Then again, Bluetooth is the worst thing in the world for security. Getting better now.
