Thank the deregulation of the 80's and 90's, coupled with the internet making it easier than ever to access anything and everything.

It used to be that spreading falsehoods or political bias on network TV or the airwaves via radio could get your station's license revoked by the FCC. But Reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine, and with that out of the way, there were no barriers for Rush Limbaugh and similar ilk to make more money by saying whatever kept the hyper-conservative, over-religious pearl clutches tuning in.

Of course, but I think when people complain about the software, it's that out-of-the-box experience they are describing. The vast majority of users are not savvy enough to flash custom ROMs, sideload, or even install a new launcher. And even for those with the expertise to do so, it's extra work.

But then that also doesn't quite address the app situation either. Android, for better or worse, is all about scalable interfaces to accommodate an infinitely wide array of devices, but most people with a tablet will tell you that they don't like "tablet" apps that are just rescaled phone apps with way too much whitespace. So there may be something to be said about the way Apple maintains iPad OS separately from iOS, with more stringent design standards to adhere to for app developers to have their iPad apps listed in their app store.

It's a valid concern, though. The tablet experience has always sucked on Android, so the foldable experience is trying to hybridize with something the OS has never been able to get right.

But the inverse is also true. There's no telling if a future software update will take a good experience and make it terrible.

Only difference I can see is that it looks like they sharpened the edges and removed the screen bevel in the process.

But that could have already happened on prior devices without me noticing, since my current device is years old and I haven't seen a need to upgrade yet.

I think there are sometimes delays. Sometimes I'll post a comment that gets a few replies, which then appear in my inbox, and I'll check each one to mark as read. Then I'll see another new message a few minutes later, but posted before any of the other ones. It'll get listed earlier in my inbox as well so it shows up as an unread message after the couple of read ones I already checked.

Ahhh, so they "mischaracterized" it. That makes it okay, then.

Banning an entire class of ads online and in media during peak hours? Sounds like a win to me, even if it doesn't have the effect they hope for.

Ads suck, especially ads that are selling garbage no one needs. The fewer, the better.

But what about the Honey Badger?

Some Republicans, like all of the ones endorsing Harris, but Trump's MAGA core voting base is still shielded by their reality distortion field where Trump "won".

I couldn't even watch 10 minutes because it was so painfully obvious they were just lying through their teeth, and it was so desperate sounding that to a non-R voter, it came across as them not even watching the debate.

I think that may be their strategy. They assume a lot of their base doesn't want to watch the debate, instead they just tune in after the fact, and they get the bizarro universe account of what happened presented as fact and thus feel more validated in their beliefs.

During Cerny's presentation, he specifically talked about the compromise between 60fps performance mode and 30fps graphics modes, so it's to get 60 fps that people are typically enabling performance mode for.

When Samsung last updated One UI several months ago, myself and many other Samsung users (and Pixel users on Android 14 as well, judging by the replies) encountered a bug where swiping posts closed showed only a black background until fully closed, after which the content one would expect to see would appear.

Last night, One UI updated to 6.1 on my device, and when I used Sync this morning, I noticed that the black background bug is no longer happening.

!Unfortunately I now need to re-learn my navigation gestures because Samsung apparently thinks it's fine to force people to completely re-learn how they navigate their phone overnight...!<

Seen on a comment today, this user with an Arabic username, written right to left, is rendered in between the points value and label text in Sync, rather than to the left of the value as expected.

Noticed a minor bug this morning when swiping a post closed where there is only a black screen in the background in place of the feed.

The feed loads immediately as expected when the post is fully closed, making this only a minor issue.

Notably, my phone updated to Android 14 just last night, so I was not sure if there was something weird with the OS update impacting the app, but it persists through a force close and clearing cache.

Minor spoilers for the quest "Breaking the Bank" below!

So after going into the archives to look for a certain missing GalBank ship for the Crimson Fleet, there were logs for other missing ships other than the one I was looking for.

Out of all of the options available to check, there was only one ship that had recorded a last known location: the "Supremacy", last known to be near Saturn.

I thought, "Hey now, they must have put a location for this one other ship for a reason, and I bet it would be pretty lucrative if I was the one to find it." Now, with that said, Saturn is a somewhat big area to search, with many moons to boot, and I can't seem to find any other leads.

Just so that I am not spending hours on a wild goose chase, I was curious if this is something that anyone else knows anything about, or if there might be other hints I simply missed?
