A place to discuss and support all things Steam Deck.
Replacement for r/steamdeck_linux.
As Lemmy doesn't have flairs yet, you can use these prefixes to indicate what type of post you have made, eg:
[Flair] My post title
The following is a list of suggested flairs:
[Discussion] - General discussion.
[Help] - A request for help or support.
[News] - News about the deck.
[PSA] - Sharing important information.
[Game] - News / info about a game on the deck.
[Update] - An update to a previous post.
[Meta] - Discussion about this community.
Some more Steam Deck specific flairs:
[Boot Screen] - Custom boot screens/videos.
[Selling] - If you are selling your deck.
These are not enforced, but they are encouraged.
Rules:
- Follow the rules of Sopuli
- Posts must be related to the Steam Deck in an obvious way.
- No piracy, there are other communities for that.
- Discussion of emulators are allowed, but no discussion on how to illegally acquire ROMs.
- This is a place of civil discussion, no trolling.
- Have fun.

MODERATORS
It can be done, but it's complicated. You either need to mount the read only system as writeable (which will be overwritten with each update), or use a system like rwfus to install packages to user space instead.
You can also change your entire OS to Bazzite, which will keep the benefits of SteamOS (console like experience, suspend mid game, decky loader, etc) but has separate images for other DE's like Gnome. I think the underlying OS is still immutable though, so if they don't offer i3/awesome images I don't think it'll be easy to install them.
thx for the feedback ... wouldn't shy away of adapting things but i'm not sure about how much i would compromise the idea of having a "never have to worry"-immuteable system
bazzite is a good tip ... currently i tend to try out nobara ... i think it has a steamdeckUI mode as well ... if i understand correctly, it would be a optimized for gaming fedora system, but getting the steamdeckUI on top of it as a x-session ... might be cleaner
