Years ago I went to the sea of thieves forums and asked what people thought of a pve mode. What followed was hundreds of dms calling me a pussy, saying "It's sea of thieves not sea of friends, get good" Then it started to devolve into mostly just insults. It was the same experience as playing the game and having children scream slurs at you. Sea of thieves has the worst "community" of any game I've ever played. It was clear to me then that the better players were upset to be losing their easy loot targets who just want to quest or fish and it seemed the game devs were supporting that.
Those are the players that want to pub stomp. Theyre the toxic ones. They get mad when a game mode appears that takes away the noobs and unskilled players and leaves just the toxic and skilled players to each other.
They dont want to fight each other because they dont want to lose. Who is the real loser?
Pretty much what happened to the COD community. Everyone is bitching about getting matched against people with similar skill levels like it's the end of the world. TBH I didn't really notice the scary SBMM when playing COD MPs, I even managed to get around 60 percent win rate with almost 2 K/D. Those people just need to realize that they're not as good when they played OG MW2 15 years ago.
Dude, it's literally ANY pvp community ever. Experienced players just normalize trauma the way your alcoholic parent normalize it.
I've seen too many stubbornly communities that insisted that there is special magic about being vulnerable all the time.
