I started using Proton for their VPN about 5 years ago, and the mail was there so I started using it too. In the last year Proton has expanded to a full privacy option with VPN, email, calendar, drive and even password.
Though the usability of its products is not yet on par with Google's, Proton has indeed become a great one-in-all solution nowadays. Migrating from Google feels great but I'm just worried about putting all my eggs in one basket again...
A secondary email is a good thing. I have one account I use for everything important (tax, bank, insurance, bills, personal correspondance) and the other is protonmail which I use for Facebook, craigslist, uber, dentist, etc.
That's some copium right there. The company has been doing AI for years and they are synonymous with search. Their primary income is advertising where they're basically unrivaled. You're kidding yourself if you think they're going anywhere.
