Two questions

1- Is it possible to search communities?
I mean as in typing the communities' names or the topic they're based around in a search bar. I don't seem to find it.
2- IS there a way to add Alt Text to profile pictures/avatars and banners?
Yes, good point about the need for a search tool.
There's been some big changes. https://piefed.social/communities still exists, but is less central than it was and is not a top-level item on the main menu. It no longer appears in any breadcrumbs. It still needs a search tool ;-)
If you look at the breadcrumbs of a random post, say, this one: https://piefed.social/post/20506 you'll see that 'Topics' comes first, which links to https://piefed.social/topics. From there you can see all the posts in a topic (comprised of several communities). In the right hand column is a list of all communities in the topic.
