No they'll still see the domains you visit until encrypted client hello becomes a thing.

I don't think they see the domains if you're on a VPN though.

That's one thing I don't really get about the whole "vpns don't make your browsing private" thing, like ofc you can still be tracked via fingerprinting/cookies but I thought it was obvious that it was mostly about hiding what sites you're visiting from the ISP?

But you give a third party this info. So tomato, tomato.

Someone on the edge node will know your info: your isp or your VPN provider

yeah, I guess you I have an easier time trusting a vpn provider than an ISP

I know that there have been scandals with vpns logging user data even when they say they don't but... you don't really have a choice if you want to try being anonymous
