so -- did anyone watch the live action rendition? Was it worth the time in retrospect?

Dude, it was shit. It was shit because it was another IP that some writers got ahold of who had contempt or at least no understanding of the source material.

I love the actors they chose for Spike, Jet, and Fey. But the writing and direction was awful.

This series reminded me of The Witcher, in the worst ways, and I'm a huge fanboy of both IPs

The actor who played Jet carried the show. He was extremely good.

As a huge fan of the original, I legitimately really enjoyed the live action show. Just watch it as it's own self contained thing and don't think too much about where it comes from. And don't take it too seriously. I'm sad that we'll never see more.

I didn't and wont, and I'm a straight up fanboy.

Remakes / franchises are the plague of modern creative media.

It felt like a SNL sketch.

Good talent and acting, with an established backstory, ad-libbed to the point of absurdity, on a temporary set made out of foam board.

Where is this live action rendition you speak of?

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

I actually enjoyed it. IMO they didn't fuck up any of the characters or plot points, and the aesthetic was interesting. Nothing will beat the original, but it was still fun to watch.
