I'm so fucking glad at least one other person in this thread is aware of it.

That said, I'm probably going to be instance banned in an hour or so, that fuckdamn sockpuppet did its job very well and apparently has admin friends.

So, lemmy is likely compromised just as reddit is, pro-corporate spin control accounts working together with instance mods and admins to direct the narrative AWAY from 'Fuck the corporations' and always to in-fighting and intra-class warfare.

One issue I see is the extreme language both sides use. I‘d just try to stay constructive and block those who are obvious shills.

When I was in 3rd grade, the asshole sitting on the right of me liked to lick his finger and stick it in my ear when the teacher wasn't looking.

I had repeatedly asked my teacher to be moved, explaining calmly what he was doing.

Her response? "Oh he's just playing, I've never seen him do it, Just tell him to stop, You should stop disrupting class with your games'.

No amount of asking them to stop made a difference, it only encouraged him.

In every case he'd do it again and again but the only thing the teacher saw was me getting more and more and more irritated till I would finally shove him away or grab his arm.

Then I was off to the principal's office. Just me.

Same thing here except in this case, the other kid is a prinicipal's nephew, the teacher is his mother.

I get that. Situations like this are insane. Have been there myself a lot. But the only correct reaction to this is keep still and take it…

…and shit in his lunch box a day later.

Funny that we end up in this discussion while I‘m also listening to a podcast about patience and picking your fights. In case you‘re interested: https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/imp-and-skizz-podcast/id1639033817 very wholesome and helpful imo.

Also, I cant remember what 3rd grade was like but this happens all across life, time and time and time again. Only way to get rid of these so far is to sit still, not get worked up and quietly plot their downfall. On the web its blocking, reporting. IRL its waiting for them after work and making sure nobody watches.
