How to test vacuum tubes to fix the TV. Or maybe just watching black and white TV and I was the remote. Being able to buy bottled pop out of a pop machine for 15 cents AND it had Near Beer in it.
I remember that the tube tester at the local drug store was the coolest thing I could imagine.
A pop and a puff of smoke meant we were going to miss the rest of our show, but would go on a fun trip to the electronics shop with dad. I loved that shop. So many cool things.
No electronics shop. You went to the drug store in town. And since it was Saturday evening, you were waiting until Monday afternoon by the time Dad got time to run into town to test the "bad" tube and buy a new one. IF there was a tube on stock...........
