This sounds like it could turn into a "Democracy with Indian Characteristics" scenario. Or to put it another way: a slippery slope to becoming some form of dictatorship. First you start by denying indexes about freedom and democracy from other countries, then you eventually start claiming that your country is the most free country in the world and that everyone should look to you as a beacon of democracy and how things should be done while you turn into a hermit country (or at least attempt it).
