"High geologist" seems redundant. Could just go with "geologist".
I interpret the high as in high ranking wizard lol
Don't be silly! That would be archgeologist, obviously.
If you call them just geologists how would you tell them apart from the night geologists and the woods geologists?
It's "high geologist" in the same way as "high summoner" in Final Fantasy X. Meaning his career ends by him sacrificing himself. In this case probably via volcano.
