I feel like the world is looking away
Would you go there as a soldier in the kind of massive military intervention required to sort out this mess? Would you send anyone from your family? If you were a politician, would you send the sons and daughters of your constituents?
The world is used to it by now.
Too busy protesting at universities over 30,000 dead civilians in gaza to pay attention to the millions of people dying in other conflicts that have been going on far longer.
It's like gaza is the latest yoga trend for cool people. Or adopting African orphans.
It's never been about saving innocent lives for people in the west, it's been about personal social status.
Is it possible, do you think, to be against two genocides at the same time? Or is that just the latest yoga trend for poor people?
There are far more than two genocides going on right now. The fact that only one of them (and a small one at that) is getting any mainstream support is the problem.
The Uyghurs and Tibetans have been forgotten about, but check out my temu Palestinian flag, it was only $3.
You also appear to have forgotten the Rohingya
The Haitians and Ukrainians, too. :(
The Haitians aren't really a genocide by most definitions.
Ukraine is getting media (and financial) attention.
Yeah Haiti just kinda imploded. Sure it has a lot of the markers but there are sonmany other factors that it just kinda makes it a bit too grey.
You're right I had forgotten them. Unfortunately, there's a long list of oppressed people.
That was my original point, long list of genocides, and only Palestine getting any public attention in the west.
Your original point was repeating my point that there's plenty of overlooked oppression/genocide?
Hey there, I remember advocating for Darfur way back when I was fresh out of school. No one in power did anything about it and I didn't have the time or money to continue demonstrating for 20 years.
Well, there was enough global pressure to establish the state of South Sudan as a safe haven for many of the minorities in the region. I wouldn't say nothing came of it.
Palestinian billionaires have also spent 20 years investing in telling their story more effectively to the West. Like for example how 30,000 killed became 30,000 civilians. According to the best reports available, about 1/3 of those were Hamas fighters (Hamas claims 8000, Israel unsurprisingly claims it's much more).
The people of Sudan have no billionaires to tell their story. They only have us.
They do have billionaires...

Those are all from the group that is doing the genocide(s)
