  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

This woman IS deranged. It's hilarious that she's demanding a timetable for anything from anyone and assuming she is a person of any consequence.

I don't get it. I do not friggin' understand how these nutjob ppl get elected. Wait. I can do the calculations.. but good lord. It's bleak when you see this stuff.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 32 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

If history is any example, it can get much, much worse than this. This is our early shot at holding the line against the nutjobbery fully taking over.

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago (2 children)

The reason why people like this keep getting elected is because people will go into the voting booth and vote strictly on party lines. They don't consider the platform of any given candidate they just go down the line and check all the boxes that say Republican/Democrat.

That's how these idiots keep getting elected.

You forgot the part where they're actual representations of the people who elect them. People want people like MTG in government, because that's what they believe too

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

You're right of course but I'm choosing to believe that most people are good and the ones that vote in the way you describe are few and far between.

I realize that that stance may not be true but it helps me sleep at night so I hold onto it.

I blame the alternative media sources that have been constructed in the wake of Ronnie Raygun's destruction.

Mr. Darwin, first thank you for your contributions to the realm of science and specifically biology. Without your ground breaking Origin of the Species I wouldn't have the ability to watch all the nut jobs on YouTube deny evolution.

Second, you're absolutely right. Sometimes I'll catch Piers Morgan and it makes my skin crawl. Or God forbid a Jeo Rogan podcast.

There are a lot of people out there who see all this and say to themselves, "well, she's not a filthy Dem."

[–] Intrama@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

Yeah, I see a lot of that locally where I'm at. That line of thinking. I don't think the average voter actually checks voting records of the candidates and sees if they align with what is good for them, their neighbour, community, etc. They just assume that 'their' party are the good guys. It's like.. okaaaay, but can you articulate why? And not talking points either. Are you struggling with health care costs? Who's actually voted for stuff that would help you.

Sorry, longer response than I anticipated. I agree with you completely, so thank you for posting.

That’s exactly right. Per relatives and such who vote that way.

So far: Jan 6 was just bad players, not an insurrection. Trump did nothing wrong. Trump had the documents ready to go, waiting for a pickup, but they were dramatic about picking them up. And he’s not great but he’s good about showing the dem double standard. On what, exactly, I’m not sure.

.

I’ve been trying for months to get the sources out of these relatives and finally scored on that last week. Glen Beck and Ben Shapiro. I didn’t even know Beck was still out there doing his batshit crazy schtick.

.

Every discussion turns into a game of “you need better sources” constantly being thrown in both directions. Trump broke facts back in 2016.

Glen Beck

I only know him as a weepy concern troll. No idea how the party of "suck it up, snowflake" can stand him.

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 4 points 4 months ago

Republicans are right. Dead people vote, that is how. But the dead people are voting for the Republican Party and still breathing.

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 1 points 4 months ago

She is a representation of the best and brightest people in her district, and I think she dose a good job representing the armed clown population.
