Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Unfortunately, I can't go that route. I use many different phone numbers through Pidgin, so I don't think the flip phone would do.
You'd be surprised what a feature phone can do nowadays
It is convient, but I'm trying to avoid using proprietary software as much as possible. Those phones tend to use proprietary operating systems. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Have you thought about going with a Pixel and Loading GrapheneOS on it? It degoogles the pixel
There are non-propietary versions of android, I use /e/OS for example. Try searching for de googled android if you wanna find out more.
Oh, I already use GrapheneOS on my Pixel; it's a nice experience, but at the same time, it's not enough for me. The firmware isn't free, and I don't like the fact that it can still spy on me to some extent. I also just don't want to use my phone; I find myself to be a lot more productive with a laptop.
