Are you better off than 4 years ago?

4 years ago people were buying toilet paper out of the trunks of peoples cars.

The sky was red, ash was falling from the sky, stores were closed, the nation was literally and figuratively on fire, riots and protests raged across the country, and we had more people die than in any of our wars. It takes a completely delusional, stupid, or evil person to wish they could get back to that.

Yeah kinda makes me wonder what happened 4 years...and who was president at that time 4 years ago...

Did we ever bring toilet paper manufacturing back onshore?

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It wasn’t that. Everyone started buying home tp because they weren’t going anywhere.

You could get huge boxes of industrial tp if you could afford huge boxes.

Around here, all of the supermarkets and Walmarts and the like were completely devoid of toilet paper. So I went into a Dollar General just to see if they had any and... fully stocked.

How the hell did that work?

Because the people with enough money to overstock themselves on toilet paper would have been embarrassed to be seen in a Dollar General because it's "beneath them", and the people who are willing to go to DG don't have enough money to stock up.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

That does make sense.
