Now imagine it’s “capitalism” and all the movies, talking heads, schools, and rock stars are railing against capitalism.
If only we were acutely aware and presently suffered from one of those systems right now...

This would be a great gotcha if Russia weren't exactly as shit under capitalism currently. Any system is gonna suck under a fascist government.
The Soviets may have conveniently lost them (though there is a lot still available to history), but if you want a real eye opener about living under a communist surveillance state, check out the Stasi museum in former East Berlin, the scale of it is absolutely shocking.
