TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name
/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!
Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable, neither is supporting people who actively want to kill those groups. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.
Fun will now commence.

@jawa21@startrek.website for realizing that the line used to be "want to be added to the sidebar?" and capitalized on it. Congratulations and welcome to the sidebar. Stamets is both ashamed and proud.

Those specs are adorable.
And the price absurd.
In 97? That's a great deal, especially if it came with the monitor.
Guarantee the monitor was not included.
My last custom build from 3 years ago was a little over $3k. For that mass produced box at $2k from over 24ish years prior seems a bit stiff by comparison.
Moores law has been a kind bastard for a long time.
200mhz in 97, with 2GB of hard drive space? Bet it had a 56.6kb modem too. That was all premium components at that time, the ryzen 9, 4TB nvme 5 and wifi 7e/2.5gb ethernet of its day.
$2000 in 1997 is about $3920 today
In those days you could build it yourself for half the price of a name brand.
Edit: for the downvoters.
Did you ever go to a computer show and sale at a fairgrounds or expo center? Or buy/subscribe to Computer Shopper magazine (the one that looked like a telephone book).
The PC market was completely different in the 90's.
Well, that is eight times more CD-ROM speed than most any computer sold today.
Infinite more speed than the empty drive bays I'm using for CDs and DVDs.
Though I've been considering getting an external drive. Mainly to check if my old CD and DVD backups/data dumps are just junk now or are still readable (to probably rip the iso and then burn a new copy that will likely sit unused for another decade or two).
But can it play Doom?
That mfer would have run doom like a mofo
Has anyone tried calling the number and asking for the p200v?
The chip that runs the smart outlet my coffee maker plugs into has better specs than that lol
And yes, it can run DOOM
