I am currently using Sennheiser's ocx 686g but they're just staring to lose connection to the port when the cable gets pushed around, so I was looking to see if there's anything better than just replacing these every 3-5 years at a ~100$ price point wired preferred but not a hard deal breaker or anything

Honestly I might just pick these up tomorrow and try them out for 25$, and directly compare them to what I have now. Thanks for the suggestion

Don’t

KZ are not competitive. In fact theyve got caught with a few different controversies - e.g. advertising with multiple drivers, not all of which actually do anything. Or changing the tuning for the worse after loads of positive reviews and measurements come out. Pretty much all of their models are V shaped tuning with harsh treble until that KZ collab I just linked… which they changed anyway

I would advise looking at Moondrop, Salnotes, 7Hz for a start. Chu 2 could be a good option.

This one may interest you, especially the updates at the bottom. Anyway i wasn't mentioning any of the accused earphones.

My theory is that once you already have the tuning ready, you wont be able to change the innards. Taking out the DD will change the sound, despite it working or not. They most probably did not really look at the separate performance of the drivers.
