Christian end timers. They believe that before Jesus can come back and take them all to heaven, the world needs to go to shit. All the Jews need to go back to Israel and the rest of the world has to go through the Tribulation, a time of suffering so great that without divine intervention, no one will survive.

It's not that they are literally trying to bring about the end of the world. They just don't care how much damage they do because they think it's supposed to happen anyway.

It's idiotic. Not only do we eliminate these chemicals from our air and water, but we create tons of (very high paying) construction (and adjacent) jobs by basically giving billions of dollars from the already approved BIL to states to perform these projects. Well, given with strings attached like "Build America, Buy America" and prevailing wage.

Literally nobody loses.
