A joint letter by the Iranian, Russian, and Chinese foreign ministers issued on 1 September rejects European snapback sanctions as “legally baseless and politically destructive,” according to remarks delivered at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin.

"By declaring the E3’s move null and void, we have placed on record that no party can erase the sequence of events: it was the United States that first violated the JCPOA and Resolution 2231, and it was Europe that subsequently chose to align with unlawful sanctions instead of honoring its own commitments,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said via social media.

“States that fail to fulfill their own commitments cannot claim the benefits of an agreement they have undermined,” the top Iranian diplomat said, warning that tolerating “selective compliance and procedural abuse” would fatally weaken collective security.

Araghchi added that the UN Security Council’s function is to safeguard peace, not to become “an instrument of coercion rather than a guardian of global stability,” adding that the urgent task at hand is to restore international law and provide a foundation for diplomacy.

Over the past 30 years, sweeping curriculum changes have aimed to cut cultural ties with the mainland. In this episode, Liu Xin speaks with Taiwan high school teacher Ou Kuei-chih, who has spent three decades in classrooms and isn't afraid to speak out against these changes.

The concept that "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has been implemented across China for the past two decades, with local models developing organically according to the unique resources and needs of each area. In this episode of "Discovering Green China," CGTN's Huang Yichang travels to northwest Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, where former mining pits have been transformed into thriving vineyards. This land, once deformed by mining in order to sustain its inhabitants, is now healing – and nourishing – by the cultivation of vines.
