{Garfield comes in holding three cat hairs}

Garfield: I will now be shedding day-to-day corresponding to the TREE function.

{beat as Garfield leaves the cat hairs on the table and walks out}

Jon {sweating slightly}: I dread tomorrow

The author writes:

TREE(1) is 1. TREE(2) is 3. TREE(3) is... in terms of cat hairs, it's house-explodingly, country-floodingly, planet-engulfingly big. You know Graham's Number? It's practically zero by comparison. For more information, watch this Numberphile video.

Garfield: WHY does this comic strip exist?!

The author writes:

Garfield, in spite of its banality, remains one of my favorite comic strips of all time, from the perspective of having basic and easily identifiable humor, as well as possessing the potential for post-modern ironic derivative humor generated from productions such as Garfield Minus Garfield (as well as strips contributed by yours truly). However, it cannot be denied that in recent years, the original strip has hit somewhat of a lull in quality. As of lately, I've become enamored by a blog known as Permanent Monday, a journal that was focused on critical analysis of the Garfield strips. One particular blog post struck a chord for me and thus has served as an inspiration for the strip as shown here (http://permanent-monday.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html). I like to think that Garfield has finally become aware of the formulaic droll of the goings-on of his life, the routines of his socially pathological owner, and the existence of his dopey dog roommate. He takes a pained, sidelong glance at the reader, and - to quote Mezzafield - "and he asks the obvious question."

Why indeed.

{A mosaic of Jon sitting on an armchair, with Odie to one side and Garfield on the other side. The individual mosaic tiles are panels from Garfield strips.}

The author writes:

This mosaic has fewer panels than the previous mosaic, with just 54Γ—41, but has sub-panel detail. (The other one just matched the average colour for each pixel.) Again, a much larger version is available here: 10530Γ—7052 pixels (14.8 megabytes)

Hello fellow Garfield fans!

About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

Garfield is an American comic strip created by Jim Davis. Originally published locally as Jon in 1976, then in nationwide syndication from 1978 as Garfield, it chronicles the life of the title character Garfield the cat, his human owner Jon Arbuckle, and Odie the dog. As of 2013, it was syndicated in roughly 2,580 newspapers and journals and held the Guinness World Record for being the world's most widely syndicated comic strip...
