- Lemmy.world is not loading, and I am encountering an error when opening a new page.

Please start by checking the following links to see if Lemmy.world is experiencing any issues:

- I am experiencing an issue with the client I'm using.

Are you using a client other than the website itself? Is the issue specific to that client? If so, please contact the developer of the app or web client you are using.

Please check if the desired community name is available.

- There is a community I want to moderate, but the moderators appear to be inactive.

Please email us at info@lemmy.world or create a post in this community.

- Did we defederate, or did someone else defederate from us?

Visit https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/detail/lemmy.world for information about defederation of any instance.

Alternatively check https://defed.xyz/ and enter "lemmy.world" to view a complete list of defederations.

- I cannot access my account.

Thread

I am asking for 2 main reasons.

  1. I can't even think of any way that a recent thread can get this giant amount of comments.
  2. I have a concern here about how Lemmy can fight bot accounts. Is there is any plan or way for that or is Lemmy defenseless against bots?

More importantly, is Lemmy. World admins/mods investigating or are aware of this?

I suspect I caught a ban and this caused the glitch? When I make an edit and hit save, the post blinks and goes back to the original. If I click save on a post, there's a hesitation, then nothing.

This happened before, then went away and now it's back. It is 100% my account because a new account works fine and this account fails in the same manner in both Firefox and Edge.

Anyone?

How can I change my community’s URL? I haven’t found a setting that allows me to change it. If I can’t change it, I want to delete it and reopen it, but it won’t delete.

Can we upload videos here? I tried doing so, it seemed to gladly take my file at first, showing its usual spinning animation, but then it just stayed there.

Looking thru the network devtool, I noticed it silently had the 400 error for the very HTTP POST request responsible for the upload. In the response, I found:

{
  "error": "unknown",
"message": "Request error: error sending request for url (http://pictrs:8080/image): operation timed out"
}

It would be great if I could upload some videos, but otherwise I would totally be cool if it at least tells me that my upload have failed instead of just quietly failing in the background while the I wait in uncertainty.

Anyone else having problems accessing the site through iCloud private relay (it’s Apple’s VPN)? Did Lemmyworld block this IP range? Or am I the only one having this problem?

/c/Urbanism has been abandonded for over 2 years now, modded by user "KillAllPoorPeople" - name aside has also been unavailable for 2 years.

I'd like to take over Urbanism and turn it around. (Note this is my LW account for modding, similar to /c/Satisfactory, my alt for @scrubbles@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech

Thank you!

Hi there,

I'm the mod for !nottheonion, and I'd like to unban someone. Unfortunately, the user I want to unban doesn't have any content in the community anymore, and I can't find a way to do it.

Help?

I have a community and there’s 3 of us. What’s a good way for us all to communicate. Discord and matrix are lesser preferred options. Is there any options native to Lemmy for mods to communicate in a group chat style?

The situation and why I haven't (successfully) added myself as a mod can be read about here: https://lemmy.world/post/33922948

If possible, it would be great to also add @AbNormalHumanBeing@piefed.world - which is the account I am usually active on.

EDIT: Easy clickable link to the community !peertube@lemmy.world

I'm new to moderating on Lemmy.World since I only have this account as a community I moderate is on .World. This user has persistently been using "orc" to refer to Russians and a user who defends Russian driving. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/orc says it's an ethnic slur but https://www.lrt.lt/en/news-in-english/19/1811354/i-will-not-call-russians-rushists-or-orcs-that-s-dehumanising-interview makes it out slightly more nuanced as a dehumanizing pejorative.

The comments' not receiving admin action has got me wondering. Is this time for some sort of ban? Does this violate the instance rules?

Hi there,

For a couple of weeks now the save button on old.lemmy.world no longer works. Similarly, I can't unsave links from u/TheIvoryTower?view=Saved

If I login to standard lemmy.world, it does work.

What the actual fuck.

We've got a worthless sack of shit shitposting in a serious thread after explosions occurred downtown, and the suggestion of legal fisticuffs gets an automatic ban?

I'm worried about what happened NEXT TO A HOSPITAL. Yesterday there were explosions REALLY LOUD NEXT TO A FUCKING HOSPITAL. And yet I'm getting a ban for suggesting what's a legal option of resolution here to someone who seems to be nothing but a shitposter through a MULTITUDE of communities.

Fix your goddamn shit.

Hello

I run the lemmy.horwood.cloud instance and I seem to have fallen behind, but I cant see why.

All my logs show things work fine, but on this site -> https://phiresky.github.io/lemmy-federation-state/site?domain=lemmy.world

My instance is 2540348 behind, is there any way to clear my failing report?

Hello! I’m wondering if this is possible. I haven’t seen any concrete answers anywhere about this and I can’t figure out how to do it if possible thanks for any help.

As I understand it, user reports go to the community, the community’s instance, as well as the user’s instance if the user is from a separate instance.

My concern is if a user is breaking instance rules across multiple communities it might not rise to a level to catch the attention of instance admins. If my understanding (^) is correct I imagine there is an absolute flood of reports at the instance level making the correlation of reports against a particular user hard to single out.

Is my understanding wrong? Or maybe reports are automatically correlated? Or failing that is there a way to report a user directly to instance admins?

My other user - @EvilCartyen@feddit.dk - is the only mod of the community !procycling@lemmy.world.

I've tried to appoint other moderators and sticky threads, and it works on my local instance but doesn't show up when I log into lemmy.world using this account.

And then after something like 12 hours the appointment is reversed on the external instance as well, so the feddit.dk account is yet again the only mod.

  1. This seems like a bug with federation
  2. Would it be possible for you to add this account as a mod, so I can use that instead of the external account?

I would do this myseld, but, well, it doesn't work.

Apologies if this question doesn't go here, but I wasn't sure where else to ask. I was curious if anyone was working on something a la Reddit Enhancement Suite. I use old reddit partially because RES is such a great tool, and I'd love to see something similar for Lemmy. In particular, I like being able to tag users.

I click continue in the content warning box and it just reloads the page and the content warning prompt box reappears, is there some secret thing I have to do first?

It has become apparent that @rodneyck@lemmy.world has been manipulating votes by voting with multiple accounts on other instances.

At the very least, on this post they have upvoted it using multiple accounts with the same username on different instances, as well as multiple votes in the comments of that post. It's very likely they are doing the same on all their posts.

They are also harassing other users by digging up comments/posts then lying about them in order to slander the other person.

The comment chain on this thread shows this behavior:
https://lemmy.world/post/32414918/18033196
(Note that there is an unmarked NSFW image from that user in the comments. This was used as an attempt to harass another user.)

-- Edit --
@rodneyck@lemmy.dbzer0.com is now here with some pathetic spin and conspiracy bullshit. They are trying to act like a victim like the whole issue has to do with AI when it's entirely about them harassing users and a painfully obvious use of alts for manipulation. They even went so far as to post a porn image, in an attempt to harass another user, in a comm that has a clear rule against posting porn. The problems with this user has nothing to do with their sad use of AI.

@DeezDohNutz@lemmy.ml is clearly another alt of their's. Not only did they never post anything until now and show up here at nearly the same time and use the same phrasing and ridiculous arguments, notice how they have the same exact text in their user bio.

Here is DeezDohNutz@lemmy.ml:

And rodneyck@lemmy.dbzer0.com:

This is just sad.

Here's a question about lemmy.world: Does it send a referrer, when you open a link there?

Because feddit.org (which is also an #Lemmy) does, but lemmy.world seems to not do that? Is that right and if yes, intentional?
