Image is of many Hamas soldiers supervising the handing over of Israeli hostages to cars heading out of the Gaza Strip.

After 15 months of genocide - and resistance to it - the Israeli regime realized that they could not win a military victory against Hamas, and were forced to sign a humiliating ceasefire in order to get their hostages returned.

With much of Syria under the control of Al-Qaeda, and an increasing level of covert infiltration into Lebanon, the crisis in the Middle East is not over, and we may still be in its beginning stages, as the center of hegemony continues its gradual shift away from the United States. Their navy, once considered the best in the world, is likely also not very happy about their ships and aircraft carriers being forced to retreat by Yemen, one of the poorest countries; and all eyes are on Iran, who has, over the last year and a half, demonstrated a newfound confidence and strength to directly strike Israel.

The recovery for Gaza will take, at a minimum, decades; it could indeed never fully recovery to even how it was before, considering it is not in Israel's interests to see their concentration camps recover. But Hamas has proven to be steadfast and the tunnel network has proven its resilience, despite facing some of the most powerful conventional bombing in history. This shows that Palestine's liberation is a when, not an if; and hopefully a much sooner "when" than expected before October 7th.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Donald Trump in fiery call with Denmark’s prime minister over Greenland

Donald Trump insisted he was serious in his determination to take over Greenland in a fiery telephone call with Denmark’s prime minister, according to senior European officials.

...

They added that Trump had been aggressive and confrontational following the Danish prime minister’s comments that the island was not for sale, despite her offer of more co-operation on military bases and mineral exploitation.
“It was horrendous,” said one of the people. Another added: “He was very firm. It was a cold shower. Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”
The details of the call are likely to deepen European concerns that Trump’s return to power will strain transatlantic ties more than ever, as the US president heaps pressure on allies to give up territory.

“The intent was very clear. They want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode,” said one person briefed on the call. Another said: “The Danes are utterly freaked out by this.”
A former Danish official added: “It was a very tough conversation. He threatened specific measures against Denmark such as targeted tariffs.”

If you're going to include the unnamed the former official, then feel like this part is relevant to quote too.

The Danish prime minister’s office said it did “not recognise the interpretation of the conversation given by anonymous sources”.
Greenland, home to just 57,000 people, is an entry point to new shipping routes gradually opening up through the Arctic; it also boasts abundant but hard to access minerals.

“President Trump has been clear that the safety and security of Greenland is important to the United States as China and Russia make significant investments throughout the Arctic region,” a White House National Security Council spokesperson said.
“The President is committed to not only protecting US interests in the Arctic but also working with Greenland to ensure mutual prosperity for both nations.”

Trump threatened in early January to impose duties on Denmark if it opposed him on Greenland. He also declined to rule out using military force to take control of the island.
“People really don’t even know if Denmark has any legal right to it but, if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security,” Trump said at a press conference days before taking office.
“I’m talking about protecting the free world,” he added. “You have China ships all over the place. You have Russian ships all over the place. We’re not letting that happen.”

And especially this

Múte Egede, Greenland’s prime minister, has repeatedly stressed that the island’s inhabitants want independence rather than US — or Danish — citizenship. But he has welcomed US business interest in mining and tourism.

The cringey patsoc infighting continues (CW: weird patsoc shit):
https://haitiliberte.com/exposed-danny-shaw-admits-gun-trafficking-charges-not-100-truthful/

Notice how this is supposed to be a news website devoted to Haitian news in English. Those videos are unlisted.

Haiti gun trafficking was the only interesting part (and probably closest form of something since black panthers)

Fico said that a third of the participants in mass protests in Slovakia are Ukrainians who oppose the Slovak government. According to the Slovak Prime Minister, people at the protests were deceived by the organizers. Fico also said he would not resign, despite demands from tens of thousands of people across Slovakia. "Ukraine will never be in NATO, and if you listen to the statements of some politicians recently, it will have huge problems joining the EU" - Fico

The US/EU wants to remove the Socially Conservative SocDem PM because he's against the War in Ukraine?

It turns out a Congolese major general was shot this Thursday and just died from his wounds. They also timed the offensive while various Congolese officials are not in the DRC:
https://peoplesdispatch.org/2025/01/25/congolese-general-cirimwami-assassinated-in-north-kivu-escalating-the-regions-crisis/

Major General Peter Cirimwami, the military governor of North Kivu province, was shot near Kasengezi this past Thursday and later succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred as he visited the frontline to assess the deteriorating security situation. His visit occurred while DRC President Félix Tshisekedi was attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Speaker of Parliament Vital Kamhere was in Vietnam, and the Minister of Communication Patrick Muyaya was in France.

Direction – Social Democracy (Slovak: Smer – sociálna demokracia, Smer–SD), also commonly referred to as Smer, is a left-wing nationalist and left-wing populist political party in Slovakia led by the incumbent prime minister Robert Fico. The party identifies as social-democratic, and was described as a combination of "leftist economics and nationalist appeal".

Fico has promised to cut all aid to Ukraine as a result of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, and has promised to block Ukrainian accession to NATO should the subject be broached under his tenure. Fico has also stated that the Ukrainian government is run by neo-Nazis.

In the 2000s, the party opposed the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan, and organized the withdrawal of 110 Slovak soldiers that were deployed in Iraq. In its foreign policy manifesto, Smer calls for understanding with countries "with a form of government other than parliamentary democracy", referring to China and Vietnam. In 2007, Fico made an official state visit to the then leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, "discussing the fight against world imperialism"

In October 2023, Smer was suspended from the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the affiliated Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) European Parliament group., following its formation of a coalition government with the Slovak National Party. Smer subsequently declined to join the Fidesz-led Patriots for Europe group, stating that it would not join a non-leftist group. In September 2024, Smer began negotiations with two other parties in the Non-Inscrits, the German Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht and the Czech Stačilo!, on establishing cooperation between left-wing conservative parties.

So, they are just a social democrat party that is a bit critical of the US and EU, and at the same time they get to hang out with cool people?

Since I saw people posting about the situation in the DRC with regards to Goma and the M23 rebel advance along with alleged reports of the UN peacekeepers withdrawing, I managed to find this update from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF):

It seems based on casualty rates and recent reports, that the SADC contingent did most of the fighting to hold the city, which would make sense given reports of the the UN contingent withdrawing. That's assuming this report from the SANDF is truthful and not a bunch of cope. We'll know soon enough based on if Goma falls to the M23 rebels or not.

Trump's 'crusader' Pete Hegseth has been sworn in as the new Pentagon chief. In a brief speech, he outlined his "guiding principles": "Restore the military spirit in everything we do, rebuild our military and restore deterrence."

"We don't want to fight wars. We want to contain them... And we want to end them responsibly. But if we have to fight them, we will show overwhelming and decisive force to close in on the enemy, destroy them, and bring our boys home," Hegseth said. Turning to Trump, he said he looked to him for support "in achieving peace through strength, in putting America first."

I'd be interested to hear what y'alls analysis of the situation is and what you expect to happen in the next 3-12 months.

Trump has so far

  • Crashed the farming industry.
  • Alienated the EU
  • Reignited talks of Californian secession
  • Ushered in a ceasefire in Gaza
  • Appointed Boris Yeltsin as SOD
  • Almost made Epstein-lite AG
  • Been the devil for queer and trans people
  • Ramped up ICE
  • Continued the previous administrations strategy of ignoring the bird flu.
  • Elon heil
  • Please add more

All in all I'd say my evaluation that he'd be better than Kamala on foreign policy (not out of a kind heart, but out of being a big Doofus) and the devil domestically was correct. As contradictions heighten I think we'll see events that make the summer of 2020 look like a warm-up.
Not downplaying what is happening, but a lot of what I see reported about domestic issues isn't really more than what was already developing, it's just getting attention now that the libs are in opposition. Though the persecution of queer people is wild and I had not predicted Elon doing the sieg heil nor the corporate pullback from many institutions that ensured some safety for minorities.
That's scary. I'm lucky I don't live in the us (haven't for years).

From a personal perspective, the Greenland stuff scares me. I've got danish family, until recently I lived in Denmark. I'd like to go back someday.

but a lot of what I see reported about domestic issues isn't really more than what was already developing

The Laken Riley Act is some of the most evil bit of domestic legislation I can ever recall - probably worse than any EO Trump has ever signed. It was developed entirely before Trump took office, had significant support from Democrats, and absolutely would have been signed by Biden or Harris.
