It's not like all European companies are die-hard advocates for privacy, fairness, and openness. Each one has its own approach and priorities, just like their North American counterparts. So, it's essential to do your research and evaluate each solution on its own merits, rather than making assumptions based on its geographical origin.
That being said, if you're looking for a temporary solution while you search for something you can really trust, a European option might be a good stopgap. It's not a permanent fix, but it can help you bridge the gap until you find a solution that truly aligns with your values and priorities. Just remember to keep looking and don't get too comfortable โ your data and privacy are worth the extra effort to find the right fit.

Yeah, at least they (supposedly) have a chat to propose stuff. I already proposed EU-hosted Lemmy instances. What is matrix, by the way? First time I heard of it.

Its a chat protocol with encryption build in. Its like Discord and/or Whatsapp like.
That sounds nice, only bad thing is most people probably still don't use it.

So there is hope that at least in europe this could become an alternative.

At least the one for Health Services is limited to licensed Healthcare Professionals so you know for sure you only communicate with other licensed professionals, and also you know that the displayed name is the real one

Well, there are some great opensource software projects that are on the Matrix network. Look at matrix.org :) I host my own server for some friends, just like i host my own Lemmy etc.
Should be like an alternative to Discord. Don't really use it so can't judge how it holds up

Agree, here there is a list of peertube instances:
