[Pokémon] The origin of the grass type

This is from a few years ago, but I just stumbled upon it. It was a very fascinating read on the development of Pokémon and their different types. The changes that happen during a game’s development are really interesting.

Accidentally closed this article's tab, coming back to get it back and to say thanks for posting, it was a fun read! I never even noticed the games having water/fire/electricity and that clashing with the water/fire/grass starter choice till this article pointed it out. Hearing about early fan reactions, seeing their creations is pretty cool and kind of nostalgic somehow. This kind of analysis is the stuff I come to fan communities online for.

The fire/ice/electricity vs fire/water/grass question is one I had recently playing a fanrom of Pokemon. Grass felt so out place once I really thought about it. As a child it really bothered me that Zapdos and Jolteon were not a grass types. So I went down the rabbit hole and ended up on this article and it totally made sense the way they laid it out. I really miss these types of articles. They probably don’t generate as much traffic as listicles, so people don’t invest the time to make them anymore.
