Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
Apparently Mexico rushing 10000 troops to the border to stop drug flow and the white house may delay the tariffs until march as a result
This is mostly posturing, Mexico is already doing border control for the Americans.
James Wilton, from Huddersfield, in West Yorkshire, was 17 when he left the UK to fight against Russia, flying from Manchester to Poland before crossing the border into Ukraine.
Utterly shameful they let a child run off and die for Nazis
Danish mainstream media are absolutely insufferable in their coverage of the upcoming German elections and the AfD Nazi party. They’ve settled on this smug, condescending narrative, acting baffled and amused that Germans could possibly see the AfD as anything other than a legitimate political party. The message is clear: Germans should look to Denmark to learn how to "tame the outer wings" by bringing them into the fold of polite politics.
And, of course, "the outer wings" is just disingenuous horseshoe-theory bullshit—equating the left, which at most flirts with weaksauce democratic socialism, with nazis that froths at the mouth at the mere idea of someone not gouging themselves on pork sausages all day. Not to mention, these so-called "wings" weren’t tamed the same way. The left was crushed through generations of subversive efforts—marginalization, sabotage, and relentless demonization of anything left of the Social Democrats. Meanwhile, the far right was "tamed" through appeasement, with respectable mainstream parties and media coddling them, normalizing their racism, adopting their hateful beliefs and handing them a megaphone to spew their bile.
But back to Germany. Danish media are openly mocking the idea of banning the AfD. Their galaxy-brain take? Germans should just stop voting for the AfD if they don’t like them. Because apparently, the way to stop fascism is to step aside, do nothing, and hope the magic ballot box takes care of it.
I hate journalists. Then again, these are the same people who cover the American Trump regime’s mass deportations in the by bringing in “neutral experts” to declare that “something had to be done” about “illegal immigration.”
While googling Hezbollah, I came across this picture of Hezbollah soldiers doing what appears to be an Nazi salute- what gives? Is this western propaganda? My assumption is that this is taken out of context or something.
I don't think it's a Nazi thing because the PFLP also does it, and I've seen Syrians do it, as well.
A Syrian told me that his parents used to perform the salute in school to honor the state or something similar.
Fascists use the salute, and if you see a white guy doing it he's pretty much certainly a Nazi, but there are other contexts for the salute. It's just that when Nazis say "oh no, this is just a roman salute, they are fucking lying.
Following Senator Marco Rubio's trip to Panama, some "concessions" were extracted:
- Panama will not be renewing its agreement with China’s Belt and Road Initiative when it expires.
- Rebidding will take place after a 25 year no-bid extension of a contract to run the Panama Canal was given to the Hong Kong-based Hutchison Ports Company.
- Pressed the President on curbing illegal immigration. Thanked him for taking the migrants earlier.
- Pressed the President on fighting war on drugs which Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela "have wreaked havoc".
These aren't even really concessions, I think. The BRI coming to Panama came partly on the condition of recognition of China as owner of Taiwan, and that is still the case of course. "A rebidding process" will take place meaning at best the US will get to run the canal after paying for the ability to do so.
Although gun boat diplomacy is a very real thing in this region so they aren't out of the woods until Trump is gone IMO.
A trade war of EPIC proportions has officially kicked off, folks.
Get ready and brace for impact, because life is going to get so much harder for the next few years.
This year will be harder than last year. However, it will be easier than next year
Update on the US - México border: The United States Navy has started flying Combat Air Patrols (CAPs) along the border. The P-8A Poseidon aircraft was spotted on ADSB exchange and at local airbases, along with a refueling KC-46 aircraft. The P-8A is primarily used in anti submarine and anti ship warfare, along with being used for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), basically spying. It's armed with cruise missiles and torpedoes.
Why would this aircraft be used? I don't think that the United States is going to fire cruise missiles and torpedoes at the cartel yet. I think it's mainly for intelligence gathering purposes.
The P-8A has a hydrocarbon sensor designed to detect the diesel/petrol fuel emissions from submarines and ships. This could, in theory, be used to detect motor vehicle activity in México. The AN/APY-10 mechanically scanned radar is capable of using both synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and inverse synthetic aperture radar modes (ISAR), to provide high resolution two dimensional imagery, and/or three dimensional reconstructions of target areas on land. This could be used to detect changes in the landscape, such as tunnel construction, or to monitor movement with ISAR. The aircraft can also be equipped with the AN/APS-154 AAS AESA radar, which provides 360° coverage, and it's targeting capability is said to be sensitive enough to track a group of people crossing over open land. The AN/APS-154 AAS is also said to be able to track submarines while underwater through the slight disturbance of the water's surface, such a capability could be used to detect tunnel construction underground via surface disturbance maybe?
In any case, the US Navy conducting CAPs and ISR missions over the US - México border is an escalation. At the current rate of escalation, how long will it be before some US military personnel cross over the border to "raid the cartels"? This is a possibility that cannot be ruled out.
