Still better than actual British cuisine

[-] CarlsIII@kbin.social 39 points 11 months ago

Using Pringles as a tuna scoop isn’t a bad idea, actually

[-] scytale@lemm.ee 7 points 11 months ago

Yep. Any salty hard biscuit works too.

[-] BastingChemina@slrpnk.net 4 points 11 months ago

Mix the tuna with some mayo, add a bit of chives and siracha in the mix if you are feeling fancy and it makes a decent snack.

[-] snugglesthefalse@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

I'm sure it would be... if tuna wasn't the most disgusting fish imaginable :(

[-] Kage520@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Tuna is good. Canned tuna, however, needs like a bucket of mayo to make it not dry and terrible. Then it's delicious fish flavored mayo.

Arizona is really just tea flavoured sugar water but it's cheap AF so everyone (including me) drinks it anyways

[-] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 9 points 11 months ago

Cheaper than water in many places still.

[-] bl_r@beehaw.org 5 points 11 months ago

A corner store near my college occasionally had 4 cans for $2. I’d stock up for weeks at a time when that happened, and I got a sick finger workout carrying a ton of paper bags full of them home

They don’t taste great, but for less than a dollar a can? 100% worth it

Tea is just tea flavored sugar water.

[-] chatokun@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

Nah, I drink my hot leaf juice without sugar, thank you.

[-] shikogo@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

Funny, cause in Germany it's pretty expensive and considered somewhat of a premium product.

It's just as good as "real" tea, provided you serve it hot by putting it in a mug and microwaving it.

A packet of non-dairy creamer and you have real English tea!

who hurt you :(

I have noticed that British fantasy authors (Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, and you-know-who) tend to describe wonderful meals, so I think that tells us something about Bri'ish cuisine. For them, good food apparently is just as fantastical as talking animals and wizards.

[-] Sigh_Bafanada@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Though have you seen just how many food descriptions are in ASOIAF (Game of Thrones books)? GRR Martin loves a good food description.

[-] PM_ME_FEET_PICS@sh.itjust.works 14 points 11 months ago

Have you seen GRRM? He loves a good food.

[-] Abnorc@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

Honestly, who doesn’t? I can’t remember ever reading a lengthy description of some delicious food and thinking that the author should just hurry up and get to the story.

My word!

[-] revlayle@lemm.ee 19 points 11 months ago

First of all, how dare you

[-] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 12 points 11 months ago

Second of all, how dare you.

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Third of all, dare how you.

[-] Kotsi3P0@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 months ago

Fourth of all, can you spare some?

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Fifth of all, can you bring the marmite?

[-] brown567@sh.itjust.works 16 points 11 months ago

I guess that's one way to declare war with Britain...

[-] activ8r@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 months ago

We have already colonised OP's house and liberated his possessions for the British Museum.

[-] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 13 points 11 months ago

I have had this precise meal many times in college. Luxurious, but not a succulent Chinese meal.

[-] BreadOven@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

This...is democracy manifest!

[-] blendedracer@aussie.zone 4 points 11 months ago

We (Aussies from Melbourne) tried to find decent Chinese food in England and gave up. Most of it was worse than Australian Chinese from the 1970's! The Indian and Turkish restaurants however, were amazing.

[-] Che_Donkey@lemmy.ml 2 points 11 months ago

Decent...but not succulent for sure!

Looks like one of the plastic cups they give to people is psychwards. Checks out.

[-] STUPIDVIPGUY@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

looks absolutely delectable

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

That's the gourmet version with all that stuff from the colonies.

[-] qyron@sopuli.xyz 6 points 11 months ago

Technically correct, therefore, unquestionable.

[-] iterable@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

Heat up the tea add milk. Break up the crisps in a bowl with the tuna. Give a good mix add some olive oil. Season to liking and is just fine.

[-] pedro@lemm.ee 4 points 11 months ago

Pringles are from Belgium I think

[-] mriormro@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

A lot of people don't know this but manifest destiny also covers delicious, salty snacks from the rest of the world.

[-] stagen@feddit.dk 2 points 11 months ago

I'd eat that! I love tuna!

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

No, that's fish and crisps.
