Elmo asked him if he wanted to drive, and Trump had to ask a handler if they wanted him to drive and they said he could. Elmo tried to reassure him that it was "just like a golf cart" but trump panicked and got out pretty quickly.
He was desperate for someone to tell him not to, but everyone was fine with it.
Then he made some quip about Biden not even being able to get in it, and us much as I dislike Biden, at least a couple of years ago he was still capable of driving:

It's probably been 50 years since trump drove anything besides a golf cart.
Biden famously still has his 1967 Corvette which he received from his father as a wedding gift. It is immaculate.
Biden may not be a gearhead but he is a proud owner/driver of one hell of a car. He kept it perfect.
edit: looking at the picture again, is that paint damage on the running board? I wonder if it had sidepipes at one point. I'm sure if it is damage and not a reflection it's been repaired by now, he loves that car.
Holy fucking shit that Corvette is beautiful.
In two years time from then, the Corvette Stingray comes out and further enhances the absolute gorgeousness that is that car.

Part of the agreement presidents sign when they consent to USSS protection is that they are no longer allowed to drive themselves except in pre-approved, controlled situations. Thus, it's even more concerning he had to ask for permission, since this should have been cleared in the planning stages, long before he got to touch the car, and he should have known that already. Just more evidence that the trump team don't really know what they're doing.
In all likelihood it was cleared for him to drive and he knew he was supposed to drive.
He just chickened out when it came time to do it.
Seriously, watch the video if you haven't, it's easy to tell.
Please God, let the secret service just let him run to the store himself when he needs milk and cookies...

Elon even said if there was a conflict of interest, he'd decide whether to step back or not. Since he's there and involved, it's pretty obvious there's no conflict! Logic.

Trump will do absolutely anything to stay in the news. We are his narcissistic supply. The solution is to ignore him completely.
