"While Trump cuts programs you need to live, he's turning the White House into a car dealership to advertise his unelected shadow president's failing company," said one critic.

Going to be a problem if they tell bears...

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 32 points 2 weeks ago

You say problem, I say solution.

Or at least entertainment.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Quote by a forest ranger at Yosemite National Park on why it is hard to design the perfect garbage bin to keep bears from breaking into it:

"There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists."

And the smartest cybertruck owners are way worse then the tourists.

[–] pzzzt@lemmy.world 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Orcas against yachts, raccoons against cybertrucks!

It's worth watching the video...

After he gets in you can still kind of hear what they're saying.

trump has to ask what the two pedals do...

Elmo asked him if he wanted to drive, and Trump had to ask a handler if they wanted him to drive and they said he could. Elmo tried to reassure him that it was "just like a golf cart" but trump panicked and got out pretty quickly.

He was desperate for someone to tell him not to, but everyone was fine with it.

Then he made some quip about Biden not even being able to get in it, and us much as I dislike Biden, at least a couple of years ago he was still capable of driving:

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/biden-floors-electric-ford-truck-test-drive-pushes/story?id=77764009

It's probably been 50 years since trump drove anything besides a golf cart.

Biden famously still has his 1967 Corvette which he received from his father as a wedding gift. It is immaculate.

Biden may not be a gearhead but he is a proud owner/driver of one hell of a car. He kept it perfect.

edit: looking at the picture again, is that paint damage on the running board? I wonder if it had sidepipes at one point. I'm sure if it is damage and not a reflection it's been repaired by now, he loves that car.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 35 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Holy fucking shit that Corvette is beautiful.

[–] Tyfud@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

In two years time from then, the Corvette Stingray comes out and further enhances the absolute gorgeousness that is that car.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

Sexiest bootstraps I've ever seen.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 44 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Part of the agreement presidents sign when they consent to USSS protection is that they are no longer allowed to drive themselves except in pre-approved, controlled situations. Thus, it's even more concerning he had to ask for permission, since this should have been cleared in the planning stages, long before he got to touch the car, and he should have known that already. Just more evidence that the trump team don't really know what they're doing.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago

In all likelihood it was cleared for him to drive and he knew he was supposed to drive.

He just chickened out when it came time to do it.

Seriously, watch the video if you haven't, it's easy to tell.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Please God, let the secret service just let him run to the store himself when he needs milk and cookies...

I can actually respect trump for thism At least he has the self awareness to realize he's too dumb/incapable to drive

My parents are old AF, hard of hearing, bad eyesight, and confidently driving every day. I keep telling them to stop driving

Blatant conflict of interest and corruption. Such a disgrace.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 2 weeks ago

It's not though.

Elon even said if there was a conflict of interest, he'd decide whether to step back or not. Since he's there and involved, it's pretty obvious there's no conflict! Logic.

[–] clutchtwopointzero@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Those rules apply to everyone else, EXCEPT the president and congressmen

This is sooooo good. This is how you know it's working. This is how you vote with your dollar. Keep up the anti-consumption. Boycott the fuck out of these assholes. Life is more interesting not giving them a single cent.

If a bunch of conservatives buy Teslas to own the libs and end up accelerating the decline of ICE vehicles that would be pretty funny.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It would definitely make this liberal cry from laughter.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 9 points 2 weeks ago

If it stops them from coal rolling...

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 13 points 2 weeks ago

Taking a loan to buy a tesla to then hide in the garage to own the libs.

[–] hansolo@lemm.ee 13 points 2 weeks ago

They do absolutely love an opportunity to be scammed of they think it's part of a culture war stand.

Maybe all the money they'll make on their Trump coin can pay for....oh, wait...

Musk is very good at making things fucking worse through the power of extremely self-confident ignorance and stupidity

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Which only works out for those born into wealth.

[–] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago

"I think this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part."

😂 🤣

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago

Not the first time tin cans are being promoted by the white house. Looks like it's getting to be a regular event.

[–] MichaelHawkinSnider@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Lmfaooooo, this fucking dolt has Biden living rent free in his head. Holy shit, we are fucked.

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

In his wilted psyche, he thinks he's still campaigning against Biden. Hasn't realized yet that Biden is no longer a threat to him. Eventually he'll be back to full-on Obamabashing.

"Drill, baby, drill . . ." and screw windmills--but buy a Tesla?

[–] 1ns1p1d@lemm.ee 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump will do absolutely anything to stay in the news. We are his narcissistic supply. The solution is to ignore him completely.

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Sadly, while we should ignore him completely, he is too dangerous to do so now that he is puppet in chief. Maybe ignore this stunt, yes. But we still need to keep an eye on him so we know how and where to push back on.

[–] TheDeadlySquid@lemm.ee 12 points 2 weeks ago

Why does this photo make me laugh so hard? Oh yeah, it’s pathetic.

[–] thisphuckinguy@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

Using the son as a meat shield. What a terrible human being.

[–] theonlyk@linux.community 11 points 2 weeks ago
