Welcome to Lemmy mate! I left Reddit after the purge of 3rd party apps. It's been great. The more people here. The more content.

I highly recommend that when you view All, you filter to"Hot" posts. It updates with everything that's recently been added.

I got banned for saying "Luigi did nothing wrong" but I also stand by the fact that Luigi will do no wrong. There’s a little Luigi at all of us.

[–] xtr0n@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That’s wild considering that the dude has not been convicted of any crimes.

Innocent until proven heroic

This isn't a time for the 'Italians have smol pp' joke ... but yes, indeed.

And it's an historical abnormality how people don't act on it (the inequality I mean).

Well, goddamn, looks like they tied a jackhammer to the banhammer. I'm having to perform religious duties daily.

But it's a sacred duty, my child, so here's your obligatory Saint Luigi blessing for the banned:

remember kids:

A place in heaven is reserved for those who speak truth to power

Can't help but wonder if in this context it would help if St. Luigi was French ... you know, the sweet-spot efficiency between Italian and German solution.

Welcome home, glad you left the dumpster

Referring to people as vermin is strongly associated with Nazis and their ilk. This looks exactly like the dehumanizing propaganda produced by fascists.

Becoming a monster to defeat a monster doesn't get rid of monsters.

How's that? Nazi rhetorical strategies seem prima facie monstrous. Adopting their dehumanizing language is monstrous behavior. I think if you find yourself sounding like a Nazi you took a wrong turn and are on your way down a dark path.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm ok with being a monster if my (metaphoical) grandkids can live the dream we were promised and never got.

[–] ultranaut@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm not OK with adopting Nazi rhetoric, whether it is effective feels irrelevant to me.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I respect your desire to maintain your morals, I really do. I wish I had your optimism.

The only appropriate reaction to an ethnic cleansing is, of course, another ethnic cleansing.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nazis aren't an ethnicity. It would be an ideological cleansing of an extremely toxic ideology.

When I saw this it was downvoted, so for the unaware the comment above is in agreement. The "Paradox" of tolerance implies we can't tolerate the intolerant or they take over. It's also not actually a Paradox.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

it's not a paradox, it's a social contract. Those who violate it are not protected by it.

[–] ysjet@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's both. A bunch of idiots in here acting like it's better for people to have their lives ruined, or outright ended, rather than allow anyone to take a stance against that which might hurt their own precious feelings.

[–] glitchdx@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

go read project 2025 and tell me that what we're concerned about is our feelings.

Didn't realise political alignment is an ethnicity.

People choose to be Nazis. People don't choose to be targeted by Nazis. That's the difference.

[–] cheers_queers@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

they dehumanized themselves when they started believing some people deserve to live more than others.

[–] eric5949@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Reddit just keeps getting worse, I got banned from r/comics for calling out pizzacake doing bkackface lol.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

Vermin Supreme for president

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I genuinely saw Dr. Evil on the end at first glance.

Based welcome aboard o7

No no; make it a UnitedHealthCare ad and it says to call an adjuster

[–] john_lemmy@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Not to defend reddit but you kinda... called for the killing of government officials?

[–] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah... People are gonna be real shocked at how fast the Lemmy instances run by individuals in basements remove stuff and ban people after getting a letter.

Who gives a shit they're Nazis.
