Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

The headline is disingenuously framed. He isn't saying he's gearing up for a presidential bid. He's saying he'll throw his weight in to build up support for the party. Idk that that'll do any good, but it isn't a bad thing for him to do necessarily.

He's an established guy who a lot of moderates and libs have historically liked. Plus, I guarantee he knows a lot of big money donors who he might be able to convince to put their money toward a more progressive candidate - that could be useful if he was willing to support a more progressive direction & agenda. Now will he do that or just insist on more of the same bullshit that ran the party into the ground...? Seems like he might not exactly have his finger on the dying pulse of american democracy, so to speak

Yeah I'm mostly in agreement with everyone that Biden ain’t it, but damn it’s nice to see a past president willing to help.

Historically is doing a lot of work there. Remember the 2020 primary? Because like half the early primary was moderates looking for a better candidate than the default pick. His events were weakly attended and his fundraising was mediocre.

But more importantly, not all help is beneficial. Once you've got enough stink on you, being a public face of the party isn't necessarily helping it. I still maintain Nancy Pelosi, with her stock trading, billionaire heiress weddings, kente cloth kneeling, and left punching was a drag on the party. She reminded a lot of people about their negative opinions of the party every time she was in the headlines.

And I think Biden's the same. He's weak, old, delusional, and status quo, and above all he's heavily responsible for our loss. The more the party props up old leaders just because they were leaders, the less it speaks to being able to make the changes needed to win.

It's not the funding that's the problem, it's the credibility and trust that the Dems have cratered that needs repairing.

ITT thread - lots of folks downvoting the folks rightly condemning Biden, but strangely no one showing up to debate them. 🤔

Just to be pedantic on the internet, it's ITT: In This Thread. ITT thread is like saying ATM machine.

Yeah, we're good, you might actually hurt us if you help.

[–] thisphuckinguy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Nope. Stay home

[–] Chocrates@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Just go away Biden! You have left your mark on the world, let a newer and younger generation with sane policies take over.

Biden should have deported Trump to El Salvador when he had the chance. Now any one of us could be sent there. I got my Anarchy tshirt out and I'm not afraid to use it.

The weird nerd model UN kids who are excited to meet Biden are the same as the weird nerds who run the party.
