Rules (2024-08-30)
- This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
- Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
- No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism.
- Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
- If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
- Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in !yurop@lemm.ee. (They're cool, you should subscribe there too!)
- Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
- No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
(This list may get expanded when necessary.)
We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.
If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.
If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the mods: @federalreverse@feddit.org, @poVoq@slrpnk.net, or @anzo@programming.dev.
He's permanently a person for a very very long randomly sized amount of time that is shorter than 100years and longer than 1 second. It could be a heart condition or covid in a week or next year on good Friday. Who knows. But it won't be 100 more. My guess is 5 to 10 more. He'll be litigating the entire time.
Please europe, I beg you. 100% tariff on those fucking emotional support trucks.
Im going to start blowing them up soon otherwise.
Do we actually have clowns buying them over here? I didn't even think they were road legal anywhere
I think you think this thread is talking about the cybertruck but they're just talking about regular pick up trucks.
In poland theres more of them each month. I fucking hate it so much.
Assholes in βruralβ areas (10mins to city center) buy them and then parade in their fucking tanks. They are always the most polished and detailed cars on the intersection. I drive a larger car myself (not a suv, a big coupe) but it looks like a toy compared to a dodge ram. Those fuckers wouldnβt even be able to see a matiz in front of them.
There's one in the garage of my apartment building. All i can think about when I see it is what a giant douche bag you have to be to buy something like that while living in a big city.
I live in a small rural town in Ireland. I'm seeing more and more ridiculously huge pickups that are simply too big for the parking spots. They're fucking awful
Yeah. An ex coworker of mine deemed it necessary to drive such a wankpanzer in our medium-sized german city over the astonishing distance of 5 kilometres to/from work.
Those are even legal in Europe? Some dude imported one here, as an impulse buy, as he had won a large money prize on Euro Millions, and it had the nastiest of ends, as he jammed the thing between two building in a narrow street. The car was cut to pieces on the spot, to be removed. The rumour mill spoke of nearly 75.000β¬ to the trash.
They are already tariffed af. Due to emissions.
The F-150 is imported into Europe, but you can not buy them at normal Ford dealerships, because they are so unpopular. Indeed most Fords sold in Europe are actually designed in Germany....
So what defines a βforeignβ car? BMW builds the X3 in South Carolina and VW builds their SUVs in Tennessee. However Ford builds the Bronco in Mexico. So which one will be tariffed?
Under normal circumstances the car which crosses a border.
So Ford gets taxed while the βimportβ brand doesnβt. Another well thought out policy by this administration. My βforeignβ car was built in Alabama.
They just need a metric to wave in the face of their very stupid voter base. If they donβt get any, theyβll make some up. They absolutely do not care if this policy successfully results in the stated intended effect.
Is he really doing that stupid fist all the time?
He doesnβt have the upper body strength for a full heil.
He has to hide the back of his hand, because the super healthy old man is not so healthy.
`hes bruising like Mitch mcconnel, except lichs hand is already deadm
How does a human skin turn green? Is he so old and expired that fungus is forming under that?
"by shaking hands" https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/white-house-says-large-bruise-trumps-hand-shaking-hands-day-every-day-rcna193652
The rumors say that he gets blood thinners due to his age.
I think IV catheters can cause skin discoloration, and the hand is a common place to put catheters. And he's an old bag of shit, he's probably in and out of hospitals as often as golf courses.
My first thought that he put some really bad makeup on his hand...
His hand kind of looks brown like rotting meat.
He's just showing Americans it's fisting time.
I always see it as him unknowingly showing solidarity for the African community
Still not buying American trash cars. Of all the vehicles I've ever owned, American cars were by far the worst. I'll stick to my Japanese autos thank you very much. They know how to make a reliable car that punches above its class. I don't give two shits if I have to pay a tariff.
A lot of Japanese cars are made in the US. Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Mazda, Hyundai and Kia all have manufacturing facilities in the US.
You know what cars aren't manufactured in the USA? American cars. I drive a fusion and the only part I could find that wasn't made in Mexico was the radio.
Anyone that has worked in automotive manufacturing can confirm. Most of the material comes packaged in boxes "shipped from" Mexico or China. It's assembled in the US and so they say "Made in the U.S.A."
Yeah, and because of NAFTA to build a car, parts were going across the border multiple times back and forth. So with tariffs that can increase the price much more.
Is the tariff on cars, or parts? Or have they not figured that part out yet?
So do several German manufacturers. Most of the BMW X cars are assembled in America.
Yeah, but the quality is noticably better on the cars with J VINs. I have made sure every car I've ever gotten was built in Japan.
Yeah, I'm sure that's going to save your butt buddies shitty car company.
Toyota builds Camry, Avalon, RAV4, and Lexus in Georgetown, KY.
If it means foreign brands, that will fuck over a lot of red state workers, if he means foreign built, maybe not.
Lol good luck with that.
Trumpcession will kick in and hopefully kill the republican party.
But you see its the democrats fault...somehow. I'm sure the next president will be a Republican
Mhm pay 25% more for a good car or buy a swasticar...
Reciprocal tariffs on American cars honestly sounds like a pretty good idea now...
American cars are already near impossible to sell in Europe. Terrible fuel economy, to large and bad turning radius for European cities with small roads, things like cyber trucks and other oversized pickups are probably not road legal because of pedestrian crash safety regulations.
don't forget shit quality
Nobody wants American cars. I guess up until recently Tesla was the exception, but that was already changing before Musk decided to go full mask off.
Curious and difficult times ahead.
