I was really worried that Canada was going to elect not jsut a Conservative government that is copying MAGA, but also the weakest leader Canada has even seen in PP. This is the closest thing to war times we can be in, without direct military conflict, so we need strong leadership, not a petty man.

If Canada elects another liberal government we have some serious opportunities to be in a much stronger position than when we started, and have a much, much weaker neighbor in America as they are destroying their own self interests.

Let this be a warning, Canada could have been what is happening in the US, cannabalizing itself with hate.

When a large chunk of your party idolized trump and the rest of the country hates him with a passion, yeah, I guess I could see how that could raise issues.

PP was always going to be hated. He was never the right candidate. People wanted change, but didn't really know who the Conservative leader was. Now that they do, they want nothing to do with his antics. And now, to win over people, he's going even deeper in attacks and antics. More slogans. He's terrible at this.

My guess is that O'Toole would be the front runner if the Cons didn't dump the baby with the bathwater. A veteran, fighting for Canada? He'd have been the candidate for the moment, no extra anti LGBT crap, no checkered past with crappy voting choices.

I remember when O'Toole first became Conservative leader, one of his first speeches was about how while Trudeau was at a fundraiser, he was in the House of Representatives voting on gay rights. That left an impression on me.

Whereas I relish it. It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, I guess.
