The idea of harvesting external energy to use on earth concerns me. We already have a net positive energy problem.
Granted, all the energy from fossil fuels is a drop in the bucket compared to all the energy that the earth absorbs from the sun, but there is a point where it becomes significant. But definitely at such a "small" scale (if you could call it that), the cooling effect of the removal of additional CO2 emissions would outweigh the extra energy input.
