I think it is Allen the Alien in both the show and the comics. He is a good guy and willing to accept people as they change but still is flawed in his devotion to institutions which he sees as immutable. It is an interesting contrast and admittedly the flaw side doesn't come up too much.
Yeah, Allen's a great choice! Especially since he's so funny. Can't wait to see how they handle what you're alluding to in the show!
Donald.
A government functionary who got tossed into the deep end so many times they keep wiping his brain.
I'll get started: can't exactly say why, but I freaking love Debbie. She might be my favorite "mom" type character in any show I've seen, honestly her interactions with Mark were what initially kept me interested in the show (especially the backyard scene).
Though she's of course not much of a character in the comics. It's much harder for me to pick a character there, but it'd have to be either Nolan, or

Dinosaurus. Such an interesting concept for a character, and such a tragic end to both him and his human side.
Yeah, TV Deborah is faaaar more heroic and grounded than a lot of characters, I’m sure it’s intentional

And we'll mourn her death far greater.
Regarding your spoiler:

Oh god, please don't change it from the comics. She must survive!

It was extremely foreshadowed in S3E07, during the 3 Evil Invincibles comment “missing their Moms.”
It'll be far more impacting either this next season, or much later.

I understood that more as their moms deaths being a catalyst for their heel turn. I really hope they won't go this way - it would break my heart, and it would mean we won't get a bunch of my favorite comics scenes, namely Nolan and Debbie annoying everyone with their loud sex :D
I agree with you, especially your spoilered character. One of the better explorations of utilitarianism I've seen.
