How I hope this goes: Trump says ok we are dropping the tariffs down to some arbitrary% and China says "We welcome this move by usa" but no mention of lowering their tarrifs.
Trump needs to be treated with the utmost disrespect because if he is angry he will probably just makes things worse for himself. I want to watch him play with tariffs like they are some sort of magic wand to fix things while the american economy bucks with every twitch of his wrist.
Can you imagine China waiting just 3 days before responding at all?
They just keep pretending that nobody is even thinking about tariffs. Like a reporter asking a Chinese spokesman if there are plans to lower Chinese tariffs gets a meaningless 10 minute platitude about "strengthening trade links with our partners through synergy" When american officials ask the Chinese officials they start talking about bring an end to the wars in ukraine and Palestine or removing sanctions on Cuba and DPRK.
