Yes they are and have been for years

[–] AnalogNotDigital@lemmy.wtf 40 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They're also coopting far left groups to further their goals as well. Lets not kid ourselves.

Where do you think all the 'don't vote because X' reasons suddenly came up a few months before the election in leftist circles?

I mean some people legitimately were not comfortable with supporting any candidate that wouldn’t address the ongoing genocide in Palestine. I voted for Harris, a lot ofpeople did because they understood what was at stake and that obviously Trump would be worse. But there were a lot of people who just couldn’t do it. Yeah I get at a lot of them, but I also would be lying if I said I didn’t understand why they did it.

All this is to say I would not attribute most of those people to “Russia.” We have to talk to them too about how we want to move forward instead of writing them off as brainwashed/incapable of coming to the conclusion on their own.

Yeah I don't think anyone would disagree with any of that. The problem was the hyperpartisan one-sided coverage. It in itself was often foreign opposition propaganda. It was so heavy and thick. Taking all the air out of every room. Just focusing on how bad Biden and Harris were. Putting the whole burden of the problem on their shoulders. So much so. That many people thought that Trump would be better because of the lack of coverage. Biden and Harris were not my candidates either. As an Anarchist I held my nose and voted for simply because of self harm prevention. But I also knew enough not to participate in amplifying the propaganda as well as pushing back against it.

Never let it be said that the left isn't manipulable or even as easily manipulable. We are our own worst enemy. Plenty still can't acknowledge their role in helping to amplify that message for the fascists gain. We do it to ourselves every time. We're naturally at a disadvantage on messaging. Simply because all mass media these days is outright fascist owned. But on top of that the left simply cannot message or Focus. Though that at least is not anything new.

[–] AnalogNotDigital@lemmy.wtf 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The left cannot message, because every liberal has their own individual hierarchy of what the top policy issue should be.

And the left cannot accept that peoples' priorities are not the same.

Sure, the Israel stuff is awful. Do you see these people complaining about Myanmar, or El Salvador, or any of the other human crisis areas in the world? No. They aren't. They're complaining about the hot topic item and being slacktivists online, then convincing themselves that making a statement by not participating will some how get people to pay attention to them.

I've seen it since the 2000's, and frankly, I'm fucking sick and tired of terminally online liberalism. It does nothing but complain and then offers no solutions to actually get anything done.

'We want ranked choice, we want better healthcare, we want better education' blah blah blah then they sit at home and let a Nazi win. Twice.

Like, have fun riding your moral high horse down to the cattle cars. I hope it was worth it because the democrats didn't prioritize giving queer pets more representation at shelters or some shit.

Yeah I can’t disagree with any particular point here. It’s all just so frustrating.

Have you considered "not voting for whoever is served to you is treason" messaging could also be a psyop to depress voter turn out by making people disgusted with politics in general?

As in Europe.

I don't fit in any group but it doesn't matter who the Kremlin supports in anyway, I'm against jt

And while their was some backlash from a few people, the majority of their fans shrugged and kept on watching them, judging by their subscriber and view counts.

Absolutely pathetic from the 'facts don't care about your feelings' crowd that purports to bravely face uncomfortable truths.

I was living in Northeast Pennsylvania. A cocky dude in a badly fitting suite. Tried to talk me into joining his business with Russians. He was pretty open about doing illegal business together. I turned him down. But they have been doing this for decades.

[–] antisocialite@lemmy.today 20 points 2 days ago

We learned a decade ago that every adversarial government in the world targets the right specifically because they're gullible and credulous. We know that because they told us they do.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

they have been funding it since last decade. its not a coincidence every 4 years, right wing govt starts to get a sudden boost in funding. this goes the same for white supremecy groups.

I came here to:

  1. State the obvious response for the article's question: Yes.
  2. Up-vote just about every commenter for this post.

Is water wet?

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

What, did The Base founder fleeing to Moscow or the Russian honeypots oddly popping up in right wing protests give it away?

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Yes. Next question.

[–] vxx@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Is russia co-opting far left groups as well?

[–] Jason2357@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They have a long history of supporting both ends of the spectrum and really anyone they deem will destabilize the hegemony. Noam Chomsky used to be such a regular guest on RT he could have been considered staff back during the Iraq war. The difference is that they have had wild success with the far right to the point that no one is even really hiding it anymore. Trump and brexit being the biggest successes on the books.

I don't even need to read it to know the answer is an astounding yes

[–] solrize@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Who needs Russia for that? Is it because of the 4chan outage?

[–] logi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Is this the obvious counter example we've been waiting for to finally disprove Betteridge's law of headlines?
