Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Judging by the difference in hours played between OP and the Geometry Dash review, I assume the comment became a copy pasta. Not sure what the original comment referred to though.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 9 points 3 days ago

The OPs screenshot is the same review. It was posted on the same date, and the reviewer continued playing after placing the review. Their playtime was below OPs screenshot at the time of review, so the screenshot was taken at a later date.

That's insane, I can't imagine spending 1,000+ hours on that game

[–] AnyOldName3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

If geometry dash is a legitimate game, why am I always having to remove links to it posted by spambots to OpenMW's forum?

[–] Truscape@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago

Nice sleuthing!

Now this has hearts of iron written all over it.

[–] Zyratoxx@fedia.io 13 points 3 days ago

If it is HOI then they forgot to mention that both sides have autism

[–] Dragonborn3810@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

Exactly what me and my friend immediately said too

Minecraft cheating/modding

Rust (the programming language)

[–] anton@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Nah, rust has reached the critical amount of trans girls to repel potential white supremacists.

[–] Arkhive@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 3 days ago

Trans girl learning Rust. I’m just doing my part hoo rah ✊

[–] potatobro@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 3 days ago

Alright I might finally have to check out rust 👀

[–] WrittenInRed@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 days ago

Honestly though the rust to trans pipeline is so real. I started learning rust around 5 or 6 months ago and realized I was trans within like a month lol.

[–] Truscape@lemm.ee 6 points 3 days ago

Nah RUST the game too, but it's based on what kind of server you play, and add Autism (me) as an option.

[–] Tiger_Man_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 2 days ago

team fortress 2

[–] Darohan@lemmy.zip 35 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lots of good calls in this thread, but have y'all considered: Warhammer 40k

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

That was what first came to mind for me too. I know that all my trans homies didn't suddenly pop into W40k one day all at once, but from my perspective that's kinda what happened. My naive ass suddenly went 'Oh!' when I was at a games shop one day and realized that like 4 of the regulars that I saw were trans. I mean you'd have thought that the trans flag pins and shit were a hint but nope. My brain was just like "Fuck yea, more allies!" lmao

[–] OldManBOMBIN@lemmy.world 36 points 3 days ago (2 children)

1400 hours on record. I wonder which way they went.

[–] exu@feditown.com 49 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Definitely trans girl. The white supremacist would leave a "not recommended" with keywords like "DEI" and "woke"

[–] OldManBOMBIN@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I remember the good ole days when white supremacists acted based on feelings instead of buzzwords

[–] flicker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 days ago

It annoys me how often people who claim to be so intelligent want someone else to sift through the world and label everything for them.

[–] boobs_@lemmy.world 28 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think anyone who uses the phrase trans girl is almost definitely not a white supremacist :p

[–] OldManBOMBIN@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

Y'know, I think this is the first time boobs has made me think more clearly

hoi4 or any other paradox strategy game

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 3 days ago

Hoi4, no question

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 27 points 3 days ago (2 children)

This is erasure of white supremacist trans girls.

[–] Clepsydrae@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

I find your use of the plural dubious.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago
