“If you ever, ever bring me coffee this weak again I’ll do something to you that makes Dr. Jetrel’s metreon cascade look a vacation on Risa.”

(I need to start making Stamets gifs... fucking hell. I'm running low.)

This made me wonder, what's the plural of Tuvix? Tuvices?

[–] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well whatever it is, don’t Google search tuvixxx. Worst mistake of my life.

[–] milkisklim@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

I'm going in. If I don't make it back, tell my wife "Hello".

[–] gregorum@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Since Tuvix is a proper noun, it would be “Tuvixes”

I love the grammar pedantry on these posts…

[–] cashews_best_nut@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago

Not necessarily. It depends if the word is of Greek, Latin or Germanic origin.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Tuvixiiiiii

[–] ramble81@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I read that as it was insanely strong. It’s not that she didn’t like it, but that she wasn’t expecting it.

Janeway would probably survive an intravenous drip of pure undiluted caffeine. She's like Bender, but instead of alcohol, it's coffee.

This made my morning. Thank you!

What episode is this from?

It looks like someone put her in the microwave.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I love that phrasing.

I think this is the first season, but I could be completely wrong. I'm going off of the hair style and, surprisingly for a gay guy and a cosmetology student, I'm shit at recognizing hair styles.

[–] aeronmelon@lemm.ee 12 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I just realized that it might be from Caretaker.

Everyone knows that Janeway had two hair styles. Up in a bun for the first few seasons, then cut short into a bob for the rest of the series.

But she actually had a different, more complicated hairstyle before voyager was sent to the Delta Quadrant. Something I didn't notice until rewatching the whole series a few years back.

After the shockwave, her hair is all screwed up and they actually make it a point to show her walking down a corridor while quickly fixing her hair into the simple bun that she would keep for the early seasons.

I think this screen is from when her perfectly-styled hair was still in disarray.

I could be wrong.

I could be wrong.

Let's test your theory, shall we?

[–] aeronmelon@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I can hear the music from that scene in my head. Best cold open to any Star Trek series.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 9 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Unfortunately the quest to find the origin of the picture continues. Her hair stays like this until she buns it up in the hallway. However I'm wondering if her hair gets dissheleved again in this episode so I'm going to speed through it real fast.

Edit: Nope. Not that episode.

[–] fishbulb95@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

What about the Year of Hell episodes? All the crew and Voyager look like they've been through the meat grinder.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 7 points 2 years ago

There's a reason it's taking me a few moments to get to that scene... I do love Voyager.

[–] kaida@feddit.de 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

you… you have a bookmark folder named „gay“

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 7 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Yes. Yes I do. As I told Xusontha when he noticed it, "I felt that was more polite looking than 'Porn'"

[–] cashews_best_nut@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

🤣

I love checking peoples screenshots for Easter eggs. You have good taste in password managers though you should switch to Linux and ditch Windows. 👍

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Thank you very much! Although I'd rather die than use Linux. I am not a fan. Of what it stands for? Sure. Of the way it was implemented? Feels like nails on chalkboard to me. Again. To me. Just personal opinion.

[–] Bebo@literature.cafe 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And your bookmarks are so neatly arranged into folders. Mine are a disorganised mess.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh they were a catastrophe. I just had to hide all of them so I quickly sorted them around lol

[–] aeronmelon@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Ah, so Gay is just code for Gay + Misc.

Stamets: "Where the hell does this go?"

shrugs and puts it in the gay folder

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 2 points 2 years ago

Oh no. Everything in that Gay folder is porn. I just quickly sorted them into appropriate folders.

[–] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

It might be from the episode where Seven traveled back in time to before when Voyager was launched.

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 years ago

Is it the one where Kim dies and alt Kim goes to live on the surviving ship?

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

The power of caffeine

It has the capability of motivating humans into traveling from one end of the galaxy to the other

Strong enough to murder, perhaps
