The craziest part to me is not that you can get fired for using weed on your own time two weeks before due to drug testing, it's that you can get completely drunk the morning of the drug test and still pass it because alcohol doesn't count but weed does.

Depends on the test, of course, but alcohol will show up in your piss for a day or two and many places (particularly ones that test for operating heavy machinery) do care about it.
But yeah, it's still bullshit.
Alcohol can be detectable for up to 14 days, but mostly only court ordered drug tests will run the test required to detect alcohol that long. If you work for the railroad though, expect hair follicle tests and they will know everything you put in your body.
Alcohol can be detectable for up to 14 days
I'm sure it can be. "Detectable" is the keyword here. That's probably the maximum (with hair follicle tests and shit), but not the norm for the typical piss tests that test for alcohol metabolites (like EtG or EtS). Those metabolites are present in your urine for 2-3 days.
I know this, because I've seen people get popped for eating Chicken Marsala at a wedding the night before.
Keep in mind, some government positions, still won't let you use cannabis even if the state gives you the right to.
Any job with a clearance. Many of those just don't test in CA though unless they want you fired because otherwise they'd never be able to hire anyone.
Pilots and Flight Attendants I'm sure too
I guess this is a sigh of relief for healthcare workers :D
We shouldn't be at work even with alcohol in our system so... Should something happen and it came out we regularly got inebriated, we'd still be fucked.
Listen up oregon!! Get worker protections passed!
Michigan too.
How about federally? No sense in weed prohibition based on racism.
I would love that but I’m sure it won’t happen for a long time…..
Long overdue.
Good news everybody! :-)
