Got more votes and comments here than I ever got on reddit. So this place is pretty cool.

Even if a post is a couple of days old, I feel like I can still comment and be part of the conversation here. On Reddit, if you miss the first few hours, your comment will probably be unseen, so why bother?

yeah sometimes it is helpful to have lower volume of content

reddit is like trying to drink from a bot infested firehose

the fediverse is like sipping on a nice wine/coffee/tea, etc with your friends

quality over quantity as they say

quality over quantity as they say

the best thing about the fediverse actually is that there's enough quantity of content that's also good quality, so you're not sacrificing any of the two

How I feel. I go to work and by lunch time I miss all the good stuff.

Also most Reddit post that made the front page would be 90% another than what the post would be about. Here conversations feel more natural.

meh, for me it's actually the opposite, i remember the first post ever on my reddit account reached 1k the day after, while here i got 45 upvotes on a post i made 6 days ago...

I still remember doing one of those award speech edits after my first comment reached 1k all those years ago.

My current/last account got to 57k comment karma without me really trying or giving a shit and is barely two years old.

I have 2 posts with 200+ upvotes and 5 posts with 100+ upvotes . The engagement that I get on this platform is crazy.

Edit: but I also made 350 posts already so I kinda forced myself into my instance's feed lol.

Well in my case I very rarely have ever posted on Reddit but I made a post on here that got nearly 100 comments on it, and it's the only one I've made on here. I think the engagement in some areas might be better than reddit

[–] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I post mainly on my own sublemmies so it's pretty damn impressive that I get any engagement at all lol.

[–] nekothegamer@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

sublemmies lowkey sounds like a good name for lemmy communitites

[–] Martineski@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I'm still to find a good name for users because "lemons" or "lemmings" sound meh at best and so far those 2 options are the most popular across the users.

I'm so stoked to see a comment at 2 here on Lemmy.

Hi dad. When are you coming back from getting cigarettes?

[–] MothBookkeeper@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Remember when 2,000 upvotes was enough to get you to the Reddit front page? Feels like that era with Lemmy, and it is sweet.

[–] Generator@lemmy.pt 2 points 1 year ago

I had a post on frontpage, got 40k. And was invited to join two frontpage subreddits (lobby something).

I tough "oh my gosh, im famous", but next day I just didn't care about that anymore.

Ive almost 100K karma, but for what? What can I do with that? Save some pandas, send it Africa villages?

[–] ehrenschwan@feddit.de 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What i also find interesting is the interaction at times. I consistently see posts with as much and sometimes more comments than upvotes. The one post i made also had 0.8 comments per upvote.

it indeed is interesting. A few weeks ago I didn't even know what ActivityPub or Fediverse is. I'm witnessing this platform's growth in real time. I left reddit and I like it here. let's hope this is the only of beginning of something really really great.

You forgot about evil ones

I would be more receptive to upvoting posts if I didn't have to search for them. I like to load r/all to see what's going on but lemmy will repopulate the page and I'll lose the thread. I thought this was suppose to be fixed after the recent upgrade. Anyways I gave you an upvote lol.
