It's a city builder type simulation game where you'll be managing the workers and resources. The focus of this game lies in simulating the economic system of socialist and communist states in the 60s to 90s era. I hear it has a good amount of learning curve and can be difficult during the initial gameplay. Have anyone here played it before? How was your experience?

It's really hard to get into, there's definitely a huge learning curve. Updates can easily change major parts of the game, and you'll need to re-learn all that.

It's also really easy to mess up and ruin a save (provided you're playing with harder difficulties), but I think it's a really fun game.

I have never been able to get past the initial money earning hump in realistic.. but I can't stop playing the mode. It's an addiction I won't give up until I succeed.

The two best strategies that have worked for me in the past are oil refining or manufacturing cars.

But it seems the new update has locked most of the stuff you can build behind university research, so they aren't viable anymore.

I have played it a bit before, but I left the game since it was too hard to get into 😅

Learning curve is vertical

I suspected this from the trailer itself lmao.

Yes, even yesterday. In realistic, I built an entire Rail Construction Office and the utilities infrastructure of a small city with the oil extraction money from two fields. The learning curve got steeper with the research, demolition and garbage update, but the result is very rewarding and makes you plan out more. Oh, and they finally fixed the demolition "ghosts": after you demolished a planned building (transparent yellow) when paused, the plan remained after you resumed the time flow; now it works as intended

I avoided it because I expected it to be just as much about a socialist state as Papers Please, might look into it.

saw "EA" in the title and was very confused for about two seconds

Me too. But it means "Early Access" I guess.
The official trailer is very old though (as expected)

I saw it and thought it looked neat but I don't trust early acsess. The best commie simulator is stellaris anyways

~~It isn't early access anymore~~. Sorry about posting the old trailer from 2019

Edit: my bad. I didn't verify the information.

Steam page shows it's still in EA.

I bought it a while back. As some others have said, yes, there's a steep learning curve. I tried a couple of times to get into it, but it hasn't stuck yet. The first time I tried to just figure it out. The second I started playing the tutorials, but just got busy with life and haven't had a chance to get back. I'm planning to give it another go soon.

No, but I think I saw Life of Boris play it once

Life of Boris can be fun to watch. (Though I didn't watch much of him)

Play it with all the dificulty settings on, set fires on normal and money on high, set realistic off. I think thats the best way to play it, play on an empty map first.

I really like the planned economy here, its not the typical build a bussines and let them do x and you take taxes stuff.

Play the tutorials to help, If you are in doubt wait for the 1.0 release, devs are doing a great job.

The main problem is that citicens need already working infrasteuctrure and there is not much scalability right now, you have to start making most of everything for things to work out or your people leave the country. Might need to restart a few games so I recomend saving when you finish the initial plan.

Having "5 year plan" mentalities works great. Try to start a simple town that imports complicated goods people need and export fuel or steel for example.

I bought it a long time ago but couldn't get into it... I should try again, might be better now
