While the developer(s) has/have done a great job getting a PWA to feel this close to native, it's still a bit far-fetched to say it "feels exactly like Apollo".
It has a delay that locks the UI when swiping back to the homescreen.
For a good 3 seconds, you can’t scroll or even touch any item while it buffers.
Other than that, pretty good.
I just found yesterday and installed it as a web app. The two iPhone clients I tried before were not quite ready for prime-time IMO but wefwef is great.
I read about it yesterday and decided to give it a whirl. Still using it today. I'll try it on my phone in a while.
Edit: Works a treat in Firefox on iOS. It's a keeper.
I think my favorite app is Thunder. Serious RedReader vibes
I don't like that you can't see your own or others profiles on Thunder yet. Wefwef is relatively laggy but it's features are better implemented
Damn, this is good. Thanks for posting!!
I never used Apollo, however out of all the current lemmy apps and PWAs for Android, wefwef is definitely my favorite at the moment.
I'm using it right now and it's really slick. Is there plans for there to be themes in the future?
Woah, wefwef is awesome! Using it now!
So far my favourite is Memmy but I really like Wefwef too
Wow, I’ve never heard of wefwef before. For being a web app, it really does have a similar UI to Apollo. And it’s pretty snappy.
I agree, Memmy is still my favorite but I’m going to try wefwef. And I’m still watching Mlem as it develops.
It really is great but that name is so weird. Anyone know what it's based on?
Dev said he just came up with it randomly lol
He made a post on !wefwef@lemmy.world about a possible name change, and some people are suggesting Voyager> wefwef
Can I connect to other instances apart from 4 preset ones?
Edit. Yes, just go to middle icon att the bottom and log in.
Yes. The last option (other) will let you enter the URL of the instance you want.
You can then enter your credentials and proceed to use it as your new home
This post was sent using wefwef
Using wefwef now and it’s good - but is there a way to put it in dark mode?
WefWef rocks. It has a nice name, too.
I used RIF on Android and now test wefwef in my browser. Already really like the swipe gestures!
It’s really good and well made as well, put in a pull request today to add a feature and getting it setup locally as a dev was so easy!
I’m very tempted to self host it on my instance as well
This is incredible, thanks for sharing!
My PWAs always feel slow, unresponsive, and also run at what feels like 30fps rather than 120. Is this just how PWAs are? I'm using Firefox on Android.
It felt really bad on Firefox for me too, I switched to using chrome for it and now it's smooth as native, much smoother than any other native Lemmy app so far.
Yup, that's Apollo in a web browser.
I'm using it right now and it's really cool!
...Why isn't the bookmark button working though?
As an Android user, wefwef is such a fantastically designed app. I was still using an old iPhone and iPad Pro to browse Reddit as a longtime Apollo Ultra user so the UI is just perfect for my tastes.
Oh, this is really nice. It'll be really cool once PWAs are usable on macOS and it'll become my go to way to access Lemmy.
It looks really nice, kind of funny seeing the iOS-UI on Android. But I loved Apollo before switching to Android.
For real, im shocked with how fluid this feels compared to everything else I have tried today. I get the occasional bad fetch for comments but thats about it so far
Omg I just checked out wefwef. I hope they release a downloadable app soon. The UI is fantastic.
Currently using it on my ipad and it’s actually really good. Don’t care if it’s not a native app, it’s still very performant and usable
Does it have a big screen layout? I’d use it on my Mac in a heartbeat
I still have to try that, I use Lemmy (and Reddit before) exclusively od the iPad. But based on what’s on the Girhub page, it looks like it works on a PC
